it seems to me that any time the shisha and foil touch i have a burned taste in no time.

I try to make sure that it never touches, unless im smoking burned shisha flavor... But thats not very often

Well back home i used to see all these old people smoking hookahs where the charcoal hits the shisha and I always wondered what was that horrible smell LOL They actually were smoking Tombak, thats the only thing smokes with direct contact with charcoal.

So what do you think a good measurement for filling up a bowl such as a regular ceramic bowl, and a bowl like the tangiers phunnel bowl?
Usually when i buy a 50g Jar/Box of shisha, i can get 3 bowls out of it with a little bit left over.

Actually as far as the shiny side of the foil, if you want to burn the shisha efficiently and get a good smoke, you put the shiny side inwards to radiate the heat inwards. If you put the shiny side outwards, the heat reflects outwards. I mean it's like cooking food. It might not have a huge effect but somewhat something to think about.
Heh heh. Where to begin.

Tombac, Khan el Khalili, Soft Black, and Zaghloul are all traditionally smoked sans foil. There are probably others, but those are the ones I've tried.

The amount of tobacco used in a bowl has to do with two things: 1) Bowl size and 2) Packing method. Dryer tobaccos get packed tighter requiring a little more to fill a bowl. In my experience, 50g of tobacco fills a small Tangiers Phunnel with maybe a little left over. But I like to pack my bowls pretty full. You must have an extremely small bowl.

Take it from Reynolds, which side of the foil you choose makes no difference.

Wait so Soft Black is meant to be smoked without foil? The 250 you sold me I've been smoking with foil. Have you smoked it without foil? How do you pack it?
