Brandon`
Hey guys, Ok so I usually wash out all my hookahs after smoking them 4-5 times and each time I run water through each, use the brush both ways, rinse again, put dishwasher soap on the brush, run it down, clean it, more soap, run it through the other way on the brush, rinse for a while, then I always smoke right after. Now each time I smoke after cleaning, don't matter what i'm smoking it always tastes like mmmm shit. Every single time I always rinse for a long time to make sure all the dishwasher soap is gone and it always ends up having a dishwasher soap taste and I practically waste the bowl because i'm not gonna smoke something that tastes like dishwasher soap. Is there anything I can do to prevent this? It's always fine the 2nd bowl I smoke but the 1st bowl always tastes like straight up dishwasher soap or burned tobacco.
If it tastes like soap....and your using soap.....we'll let me get out my notepad for calculation...... *doing intense mathematic equations* ....well my math may be off....but my calculations show that: Soapy taste - Using soap to clean = No soapy taste Just run water through, thats what I do. ryno
I agree with the don't use soap. The few times I used it, there was always a soapy taste and it was a pain to get any soap residue out of the base.
Chreees
Just use water. And do a thorough cleaning ever once in a while with lemon juice and baking soda. There ya go.

Brandon`
I rather not just run water through I doubt it would clean the hookah at all so I guess i'll have to find a cleaning solution i'm not familiar with baking soda so i'll just have to find something. Stuie
I have never had that problem. What kind of soap are you using? I use Dawn every time. Tub of hot water and dawn. Let the stem sit for 5-10 minutes. Then use the brush on the stem. Start draining the tub and turn on the water and let the faucet run through the stem from both ends. Prop it up against the wall with a towel underneath. Done.

bellydancerakn
I like to use Sensaria Housheold Citrus Cleaner. It comes in this big bottle and you have to dilute it so you actually get quite a lot for your money. Also, it is food grade, so you don't have to worry about it being toxic, but it is strong enough for mopping and dishes too http://www.sensaria.com/index.php?ProductID=55&CategoryID=
Scheetz
run hot water through the stem for a couple minutes, then run a wet stem brush through. You would be better off using lemon juice as your cleaner from now on though.
JOE
hot water, and a brush will clean your pipe.
antouwan
i used bks and didn't have any after taste problems. as was stated above soaps usually are intended to leave residue. but what's probably effing you is the fact that most big-brand soaps are scented beyond belief. go for an unscented soap. see if there's a whole foods or other 'organic' grocery (you know, where all the hippies and indie folks hang out) and they should carry something to fit the bill, maybe like mrs. meyers or something... mushrat
are you also washing your BOWL in soap? If it has an unglazed inside like a mya the unglazed material will absorb the soapy taste.
Skoozle
Keep doing what you are doing, except get a better tasting soap.
