Hassouni
What's the deal? The Nakhla DA I've smoked in the Middle East is awesome. The Nakhla Sweet Melon I bought from a grocery store for my friend smoked great. The Nakhla I get for myself, DA in a jar or single apple in a box, SUCK. No distinct flavor, not much smoke. I know how to pack Nakhla---I got the Sweet Melon to smoke great at my friend's place. Shit, I can get Tangiers to smoke better more easily than this stuff. What the hell is the deal? Why is there no flavor, why is there no smoke? And yes, everything is stored airtight. I'm pretty frustrated.
Arcane
hmmm....only suggestion is maybe acclimation or possibly you're purchasing ridiculously old tobacco... although, the jar should still be fairly new.... soooo...i dunno. are you stirring? the_cool
You mentioned that sweet melon was good at your friends hookah, but DA wasnt good on yours. So you need to determine wether its the tobacco or your hookah. *puts on lab coat* for this experiement, you will need to smoke your DA in your friends hookah, and smoke sweet melon on your hookah! post back the results and i shall do my best to interpret the data
GoofyTooth
As far as Nakhla is concerned, every problem i have ever had with it can be solved by letting it sit out for a while longer and acclimate more. I had this Nakhla coconut one time and it was totally horrible, even after i had acclimated it, but then i left it out for a few hours and it was much better. KeepItSimple
I had to leave my sweet melon out for a bit. First time I smoked it I didn't like it, so I knew something was wrong right off the bat. Just let it sit out for a few hours and tried again and it was great. Also, the samples I have noticed are much dryer than the 250g, so if your using that, then that could be the case....but that doesnt explain the DA in a jar not taste-ing right. Hassouni
it's not my hookah, AF and tangiers smoke fine out of it. I acclimated the DA, no good. Didn't acclimate the Single A, no good. Didn't acclimate the melon, no prob. Arrgh
TobiasKM
I had sort of the same problem as you. I'd given up on Nakhla, never got it working right. Everything was off. I've moved now, so I might just try again. I have no idea why this happens though. It's very annoying
Guest Cheng
Mix it with AF DA, thats what I do sometimes because Nak DA is a bit weak in taste for me, 60% nak and 40% AF should do fine. This way you would get the taste and cloudage
the_cool
How do you pack nakhla? Maybe DA requires a different method? for example it might need more tobacco, or more heat etc etc

[/quote] Lol maybe so but then how else am i meant to help? All nak worsk for me in the same way, tight in a phunnel with 3 cocobricos. you can also overpack the egyptian apparently but i havent got it to work. All nak DA i have had has been crap too, but i assumed it to be because they were not from jar and so probably old and too good. I am craving some old school nak DA! Josh Hamilton
I recently got nakhla DA from the local halal store...it sucked to say the least...so maybe theyve been getting rotten apples
Hassouni
I pack it tight, but in a wide, shallow bowl, not a deep one. Could that possibly make a difference?
Guest Cheng
I have a shallow bowl, I never get it to smoke right, use a deep bowl if you have one. I have Nak Single apple in a jar, opened it up to air it out a bit. I may smoke it soon, since my hot plate is broken I cant light my cocobricos, I have to use my old Swedish QL coals, which puts me off smoking
Hassouni
So strange, all the best hookah I've had in the Arab world uses wide shallow bowls....
twoapplesplease
Shallow wide bowls are great for nakhla Use a tight overpack and it should smoke great
Venger
I have noticed that it depends on the flavor. strong flavors like earl grey and cardamom are great every time but I can't get chocomint to taste good no matter what I do. The chocolate has a metallic feel and an alcohol taste and the mint burns my lungs. Now if I let the citrus flavors sit for a few minutes they are spot on. if I don't they have an artificial taste. Sonthert
Something tobacco related is going on. I would suggest getting a 250g of a flavor. Get your friend to bring over his hookah (or yours over to his house). Pack a bowl for your and then one for his, smoke them both and then see how it performs, if it sucks in both, its tobacco related. It sounds tobacco related somehow though. Why, I can't say.
