Arcane
so, all this talk of xbox 360/ps3 etc etc has got me wondering....is there a way to quiet down my 360? supposedly its only supposed to be loud when a game is starting or its loading or whatever.... but, this thing is loud all the time...it sounds like a hair dryer on medium.... could it be the model (first generation xbox elite)? should i trade it in for a different model? its just getting really annoying and one of the reasons why i hesitate turning on the console... GoofyTooth
Definitely the model man, mine is a relatively new model and it's pretty quiet, only gets loud if it gets left on for extended periods of time, like 10+ hours. (Not gaming that whole time, just forget to or whatever)

The old PS3's loud as well, but not near as loud as the 360. The Slim PS3 I can't even hear it.

SloppyJoe
loud is a good thing for these things. Damn things red ring so much they might as well have implemented better cooling hardware.
GoofyTooth
Destroying xboxes is a effective way to make me not like you.
Stuie
I only see one solution.... Take a Chest Freezer and Mod it so you can run a power cable through one end. Then cut out part of one of the walls and install a thin plexi glass sheet allowing wireless connection for your controllers. You have now silenced your XBox and pretty much guarantee you will never overheat it....EVER!

Guest Cheng
Load the game on your hard drive, this takes away disc spinning noise. Also loads faster.
