hookah lounge in pittsburgh pa(review)

Recommended Posts

hey guys just went to the khan (h-kan) hookah bar and lounge in pittsburgh pennsylvania.
location: 2210 E. carson st. pittsburgh pa.
First impressions were good, there was a 5 dollar cover at the door which was unexpected.  the bar is split into two sections, the upstairs and downstairs.  The downstairs is 21 and over due to the bar area, the top floor is 18+ so its is accessable to everyone.  The atmosphere is dim yet upbeat. lots of tables and sofas to sit on. drink prices were very reasonable and they also offer food. they have three levels of shisha. the traditional which is 10 the mid level at 12-14 and the premium at 15+. the brands are aw, fumari, and starbuzz. most of the hookahs are egyptian single hose. the waiters and attendants are very friendly and are very attentave. the place was also very clean and just a good atmosphere. very non traditional but very chill. i got to meet the co-owner and tell him about the hookahforum.com so hopefully he posts on here soon. the co-owner was very friendly and was honestly the best host ive seen. overall review 8. the cover charge was a little annoying but it was well worth it. great experience.

2 hookahs, plus 8 - 10 friends, equals my room is a hookah lounge on a
regular basis, complete with music and mood lighting.  Cost:
~$0.75 a bowl.  I just can't justify paying $10-15 to smoke a
hookah.  Very occasionally, I will go to the authentic bar near my
house (i.e. 60 y/o arabs hanging around), but having my own pipes just
makes it so un-worthwhile

i understand what you mean but there are a few times i enjoy going to an actual lounge. It's nice to kick back and have someone wait on you. Bring you drinks, and food and the like and than when it's all done you can just get up and leave(not have to worry about tear down/clean up). I also like meeting new people than the usual "hookah-crowd" i hang out with. Even thought the privacy and enjoyment of personal smoking at home can not be surpassed by any lounge(in my opinion).

I can understand not wanting to pay extra to go out to a place, but in reality we do it all the time.

Cost of beer at home=$.50.  Cost of beer at bar=$3.00
I still occassionally visit a bar.

Cup of coffee at home=$.10.  Cup of cofee at starbucks=$72.00.
Okay, I never go to Starbucks, but people do.

I think the atmosphere is worth a little extra every now and then.  $15 does sound pretty high though.
