crazieshef
We recently started smoking with milk and water in the base and it makes a really really thick smoke. We smoked fumari tobacco with it, and IT WAS AMAZING! I would recomend using solely milk instead of the milk and water mixture. Do not keep the air valve tightened, because you may suck up some milk through the hose due to the bubbling. The worse mixture we did was the jack daniels mix with smoking fumari guava tobacco..that was treacherous! Happy hookahing!! I love my hookah smookah! thepyrofish
I tried with straight milk, but couldn't cover the stem without it bubbling up into my hose. I think it's 'cause I have a QT, and it's pretty small. I'll try it again but a little watered down. Hell, I'll try it right now. I'll post back in a few. DownZero
I've yet to try milk.... i would be using a lot of milk to fill my vase. I would much rather spend the money on tobacco than money I spend on the milk I put in the hookah. If I have milk... I'm drinking it! heh. Maybe I'll be adventurous enough to try it some day, who knows.
crazieshef
If you are getting milk through the hose make sure the valve is loose, and that will get rid of the weird taste you get when you taste milk through your hose! gross!! If it continues just take some liquid out of your base.
Glottis
The only way to prevent milk from bubbling up from your hose is to put straight air through, which is what I believe is happening when you loosen that valve- it is bringing in air instead of the smoke that you want. I tried this once, got milk in the hose, was scarred for life. But if you are a fan of milky taste / smell, go for it.
thepyrofish
The milk in the hose was because the milk got foamy when the smoke bubbled through it. I think it's because I have a QT which has a small vase. I just set it up with about half milk half water and took a couple draws through it. It's working just fine! I'll fire it up right away here and let you know.
thepyrofish
Well, there definately weren't any negative effects. I don't know if the smoke was thicker than usual (though my heat management is still hit and miss sometimes) but it tasted pretty good. Smooth and creamy. I'm smoking Tangiers F-Line Apple with a bit of Laylina Lemon in it. Tasty, but I should have put a tad more lemon.
Lord Dorian
I have had great results using milk, both in a normal size hookah and a QT. I fell like watering down the milk is essential, especially with the QT, otherwise bubbling up to the stem or stem joint can occur. I've also noticed that it increases the opacity and the cohesion of the smoke, making it possible to blow longer lasting rings, however, I've also noticed that it often decreases the flavor of the smoke (sometimes a plus when smoking old dried out nakhla), and also leaves strange bluish white deposits in the stem, make sure to clean throughly after each use. Catalyst Paintball
I'm all for thick smoke, but I dont know if I want to put Milk in my base. The smell, the knowledge of knowing you have semi warm milk in your hookah, the sight of bubbling milk...I'm scared... thepyrofish
Yeah, If I do it again I'm going to remember to add ice. It only lasted 45 minutes or so before I got tiny little curdles sticking to the side of my vase and started to actually taste milk in the smoke. It didn't necessarily taste spoiled, but the vase was warm so I got disgusted anyway and had to clean it out. Threee times.
