Turkish Hookah!

I was at a shop the other day called Romancing the Stone, pretty much a hippie store. They have shitty hookahs, shitty accessories, and Hydro herbal shisha, so pretty well shit.

I went in there and saw this hookah and got kinda excited because I thought it was a Mya. I asked them about it and they told me they weren't sure what it was, but they imported it from Turkey. My ass...I almost called their bullshit, but decided to pass and just leave, I got a good laugh out of it either way, lol.

It's not a 3rd world country, maybe not quite a 1st world but it's not 3rd world. It's a developing country and fast on it's way to becoming fully industrial like much of Europe.
So yeah they probably have chrome.

It's disappointing that so many people will say "It's Egyptian hookah" or "It's Turkish hookah" when you and I know it is not... Either the people selling these things don't know what they're selling, or they are intentionally saying it to try to sell it to you... To the average beginner hookah can be very confusing. So many brands, etc. I know I definitely wished I had come here first before I bought that crappy Inhale hookah, lol. Wish there was an easy way for beginners to know the difference between crap and quality... unfortunately it's usually an after-the-fact kind of thing...

We have one of their offshoot/partner stores, Earthbound, in a shopping center near my house. My friends got all excited to tell me that they sold hookahs there. I was in the neighborhood one day and decided to check in to make sure it wasn't TOTAL crap selection (we have literally ZERO quality hookah supply shops in my area), and what I saw just absolutely baffled me.

They had maybe 3 hookahs total, all cheap Chinese pieces of shit, and the ONLY stocked Roland QLs and SOEX shisha. My total time spent in that store was less than 1 minute. I walked in, found the hookahs, saw their selection, and walked right the fuck back out. As a hookah smoker I was embarrassed to be NEAR that place

Yeah man, there's an Earthbound in the mall in Jackson, TN, close to my hometown. All my friends got their hookahs from there. They all love them. I bought mine off ebay and learned mine was crappy just like theirs. Got a refund on it (it leaked) and got a Mya QT... We all learn from our mistakes. But yes, Earthbound selling crap hookahs, Roland QL's, and Soex is a total and ultimate fail. Makes the hookah industry look bad...

There is a shitty hookah place that just opened up. I saw what they had, and I was embarrassed for them. they had no grommets, gaskets, mouth pieces, cleaning brushes, hoses, or anything to help a person maintain their hookah. They had only 2 bowls which were the god awful-est bowls I've ever seen (the ones with the dividers, but they were obscenely huge,looked like they were made out of glazed plaster!) and they charged $19.99 for them. They had no coals, no tongs, and the only shisha they carried was Fantasia and Hookah Hookah. Every single smoke shop carries Fantasia, and they over charge for it.[img]http://www.hookahforum.com/public/style_emoticons/default/angry.gif[/img] What was really funny is that the lady at the counter tried to tell me that HH was really good shisha![img]http://www.hookahforum.com/public/style_emoticons/default/rofl2.gif[/img] The only hookahs they had were all chinese pieces of crap. She admitted that she knows absolutely nothing about hookah, but her son does so I brought over some samples of Nak Mizo, Tangiers, and some CH coals so she could give them to her son. All of the samples included distribution information as well as instructions to load the Tangiers, and how to light the coals. Hopefully, they'll see the light. I'll be heading over there this week to see what they have now. Hopefully I could get some Mizo Mint from there. I'm running low.

Every smoke shop around me sells crap like this. Luckily we have a few hookah bars in the area that sell good quality hookahs. One of the shops has a HUGE selection of Myas, I mean almost every Mya released in the past few years (except for the limited edition one that 2applesplease showed me of course [img]http://www.hookahforum.com/public/style_emoticons/default/wallbash.gif[/img]). So I feel really lucky to have him around.

well that Mya I did buy about 5 years ago and it did cost me a good bit.......yeah I agree mya's seem to be going down hill abit exept for the small ones those to me still seem worth it......Ohh and Keepitsimple I did send photos of my broken Mya(it coroded in the stem and threading broke off) to mya saray asking if the could sell me a replacement piece that was almost a week ago and still nothing


Not to bash my mya hookah I put that one threw 5 years of hard service and travels...honestly I'm suprised it lasted as long as it did thing was a tank.I just need a replacement piece the rest of the hookah is as good as new

Well, the people at this place didn't know shit. Like literally, i think i could take a shit and my shit would know more than they do about hookah. They did try to be helpful, they brought out the box it came it when I asked (I instantly knew it wasn't a good quality hookah based upon the box they brought out). I started to explain everything to them, but every time I mentioned anything intelligent, they gave me that glazed over "i don't give a shit, please stop talking" look and kinda blew me off, so fuck em, they can continue to sell shitty stuff. I guarantee if they let me do the ordering I could increase their sales dramatically.

Actually, one time a long time ago, one of my ex-girlfriends was working there (she still liked me), and so I talked to her and gave her a list of good quality stuff they should order. Out of that list, not a single damn thing showed up. Obviously they don't want help, so fuck em.

This place moved "up" from Soex to Hydro Herbal, lol.

A tobacco shop near where I used to live had a few crappy Chinese hookahs and a bunch of Nak when I first started going there.


Now they carry full lines of Nak, Java, AF, Nak Mizo, Fantasia, and Starbuzz. I'm always surprised by what they have in stock these days.
The prices are a bit higher online but usually even out considering shipping costs.


The shop near me though only carries Pharoahs and Hookah Hookah for like $25 per 250g so I never go there.

this kinda reminds me of a buddy of mine.
he has a Zanobia hookah. the bottom of the vase says "handmade in..." i cant remember the country but it was a middle eastern country. i told him the hookah itself is chinese made but he kept telling me he bought it from that country and it was made there. when i finally got to look at it in person it clearly had removable chinese hose ports which confirmed my suspicion. many of these middle eastern countries are starting to sell chinese-made hookahs because it is cheaper than locally made hookahs.

Locally made pipes in the ME are still REALLY cheap though. The prices they sell for here are really a rip off.
