Charley
The Following is an Interview with an American Soldier who served in Iraq. This is a reprint from one of my blogs. Tonight I set down and talked to a man who has seen the horrors of war first hand. He is an American soldier, and a hero even if he dose not consider himself to be one. He is also a very good friend of mine. For the sake of anonymity I will refer to him as Soldier x. The following interview is graphic and disturbing. It is also what really happens during war, spoken in soldier X's own words. Me: where did this happen? was it in a city? Soldier x: on a bridge driving into Ramadi Iraq. Me: you were doing a patrol right? Soldier x: nope driving into town for a tea party. The old man had to see the gov??? I think or the city mayor. Oh I'm sure they drank tea. Me: By old man I'm assuming you mean your commanding officer? Soldier X: The General. Me: Did the bomber just run out at you, or was he just standing beside the road? Soldier X: No its a vehicle bomb sVbied he was driving past on the bridge. Me: Did you seance something was wrong or did the explosion take you by surprise? Soldier X: He would have been dead if we had.... oh wait he died anyways Me: And no one but him was killed? Soldier X: Yup. Blew shit off walls a mile away too. That used to be a Toyoda pickup. (In the pictures) He used 4 artillery rounds Me: Were you the one who took the pictures? Soldier X: Nope we were at the meeting during clean up. We never had to clean up our messes! Me: If you could do anything different on that day what would it have been? Soldier X: nothen. Oh maybe not shot that ladies face. Me: you shot a lady in the face? Soldier X: shotgun round. At least it wasn't a slug like we normally use. Me: Was she a hostile? Soldier X: Nope. She was in a car that was coming at us. We had set up a road block. They came from around a bend and I guess couldn't see us in time or something. Me: So she ran the road block and was fired upon? Soldier X: Not really, But ya. The shot was a warning. Before the main gun. Me: I take it she did not survive? Soldier X: I don't know. We left. Like I said we never cleaned up. But I think she was OK. A.K.A. alive. I don't think she took it that bad. Me: Is there any final words you would like to add to this article? Soldier X: Umm don't think so. As I stated above Soldier X is a very good friend of mine. He is also a man I consider to be a hero. War is not fought by simply shooting at the guys shooting who at you anymore. In this day and age a soldier can never be sure who his enemy is. They must be prepared to take lives, And to give there own in any number of situations. I don't condone war but I hold the men and women who fight it In the highest of regards. In posting this interview I hope to have showed what war can do, what it must do to those who fight it, and if anything why it needs to end. I have left out the pictures in this reprint.
