Is It Normal For Foil To Have Burn Marks?

Recommended Posts

I've been smoking hookah for about 2 months now, and I'm not sure if I remember this happening before. Some of the holes in my foil have black burn marks around them. Is that normal?

Foil: Reynolds wrap
Hookah/Bowl: Mya mini
Coals: 2 Exotica natural light "fingers", rotated every 15 minutes
Holes: A few toothpick sized, surrounded by many more safety pin sized

Smoking Nakhla double apple, tastes fine (not burnt or anything), flavor's coming through pretty good. Recently switched from quick lights to these Exoticas and I can't remember if there were ever any burn marks with the quick lights

It happens... probably slightly over packed and the juices burning around the holes... or when you were poking holes the juices got on the tooth pick and were pulled up out of the bowl and on to the foil...

Thanks for the quick reply, your second answer makes sense. I did poke the toothpick all the way through. I read somewhere that it makes for better airflow. Is this a good or bad practice?

Oh yeah. Burn marks from the coals and burn marks from the shisha. Just chill. Now if your foil starts smoking then you have problems...

The shisha can start to smoke. Don't get scared or confused about this. I think she was jokig but its nothing to be alarmed about, it happens all the time when you put something hot close to something else.

If flames erupt from your bowl, then you should be worried...

And to answer your next question, yes, it is completely normal for smoke to rise from the bowl...

Again, if flames start to erupt from your bowl, come to us immediately. With pics. And preferably video. But, er, you maybe should call the fire dept. first...

Yes I was joking. I was talking about the foil itself, not the shisha. And it is normal for there to be some smoke from the shisha. Not absolute tones mind you, but a little.
