Coals Up Or Down?

For those of you who use [font=sans-serif][size=2]biconcave coals such as three kings, do you have the dent facing down or into the air?[/size][/font]

pretty much the coals that have the dent in them.

Both. I'll flip them when I ash them.

I flip them also the side touching the foil can go out if there is a lack of oxygen due to shisha stuck to the foil and therefore the holes. And what good is a dead coal?

When I use them I always start dent up. My feeling is it's less heat on the shisha and warming it up slower lets it simmer and lets the juices come out more and creates a better more flavorful smoke. Who knows...

flat side down to start.once things get hot I will flip them.When I add the second round its flat side up to control heat.

i have always put the dent down. I think it allows hot air from under the coal to be sucked into the bowl while having little contact with the foil itself.
