Synesthesia
that's such a great idea! we should all email mythbusters about doing an episode on hookah
Arcane
i doubt they'd do an episode that's trying to prove that hookah isn't as bad as the anti-smoking crowd wants it to be....it would essentially be like saying "these groups of people are lying." which in turn, would probably result in the show receiving a lot of hate mail....maybe even legal problems, stating they're advocating smoking. i dunno how these anti-smoking idiots think...but, i'm pretty sure it wouldn't end good...
True, but it's worth a shot!
Basically, the only way your getting a good hookah study vs ciggs is probably from the industry (like the giant Starbuzz) which, is then automatically tainted as it is sponsored by the industry. However, I like to always point out the flaws in study's. From Eric:
Here's a fun study that says its not that dangerous. This study involves people who smoke 50% tobacco/50% molasses mixtures and not cigarettes.... Hookah Tobacco Study It has real things like statistics, data, hypotheses and all the stuff that makes science actually something worth reading.
and here: http://www.mdpi.com/1660-4601/6/2/798 here: http://www.harmreduc.../content/5/1/19
Conclusion Overall CEA levels in exclusive hookah smokers were low compared to cigarette smokers. However, heavy hookah smoking substantially raises CEA levels. Low-nitrosamines smokeless tobacco of the SNUS Swedish type could be envisaged as an alternative to smoking for this category of users and also, in a broad harm reduction perspective, to the prevalent low-quality moist snuff called naswar.
This is called..duh. And this article stomps on the poorly constructed WHO recommendation of waterpipes being the next epidemic: http://www.jnrbm.com...5/1/17Chaouachi, K. (2006). A critique of the WHO TobReg's "advisory note" report entitled: "Waterpipe tobacco smoking: health effects, research needs and recommended actions by regulators." ewanj6
When i did my University dissertation, EVERY SINGLE POINT WAS REFERENCED!!! Shame you can just post anything on the news - 'ssome people think'', studies etc etc NO proof as usual, and the usual scaremongering. Not sure who's more of the idiot - the people that let this go on, or the smokers who have gone *#it, i need to stop
