Getting Ready To Get My First Km Need Some Opinions

Ok so I'm needing some opinions on well I guess this would be more about the vase on the KM. I'm thinking really hard about grabbing a red pear KM. Now what I would like to ask you out there on the forum is should I go with the Khalil Maamoon RED Pear Pharonie or one with a hand painted vase? I'll throw a pic up of each. I like the fact that the Pharonie has the KM name at the top of the vase but not sure I'm digging the orangish look. I know it's still gonna come down to it will be my preference. i actually like the tree one...mostly because i've never seen one like it before...i have the pharonie vase and kinda wish i didn't buy it. ah well....

The Red Vase with Tree looks nice... Kinda makes me want one myself, and I usually dont like the way KM vases look.

Bump for asking on QUALITY concerns of KM's.

This was a hot issue months ago how the new-quality was bunk.

Where are we at now with this?

Is this the 20% discount I got from HJ? Getting rid of the crap?

However many cited AF Solids as a better replacement and those suck. Already green / oozing despite massive cleaning, poor purge, poor pulling (such a small downstem for a solid).

As far as I know KMs are still fine in quality. My rule of thumb- stick with KM or Mya. Won't let you down.

Right, I just do recall even Eric was saying the recent quality had gone down hill with next generation production..curious to know if this has improved.

according to some people that own the older older KMs, the quality of these newer KMs aren't at the same level...

i've noticed though a few that i have purchased in Feb '09 and the others i bought early this year are a bit different too...welds aren't as clean, doesn't seem as solid...however, everything i've received has been airtight....so, i don't really mind much...

i wouldn't say KMs are losing their touch by any means, but it does seem like the attention to detail isn't quite there anymore...

Not sure was just going by the description, both stems were the same, just different vases.

As I was saying to all thanks to all for the opinions. I actually ended up getting neither because I just couldn't bring myself to like the red pear enough. So I went with the blue pear one with the pretty plain blue and gold vase. I really liked the way the blue pear was like a tye dye type pear. Should be getting it on tuesday and if I forget to post in here hit me up and I will tell you how it's built and how it smokes. Once again Thanks everyone.
