Give Me Tips About Taking Care Of A Pipe With A Copper Downstem

I bought this 34' tesmah and it's beautiful but it has a copper downstem. Every time i smoke it, I can see the inside of the pipe at the bottom starts to build up a green sludge (guessing it oxidizes with the water).

But does this mean i have to clean it extensively every time after i smoke it? Am I supposed to ignore the green and let it buildup? Is it bad for the pipe to keep cleaning the green stuff off?

If this is going to cost me a ton of extra time, I might just sell it and get the mya mozza (Idk why, I have a really attraction to that piece. Can anyone tell me some things about it?)

Actually i'm looking forward to hearing what advice people give you here because i'm saving up to by a Khalil Mamoon with a copper stem.

I bought this $10 hookah (34") and it was some green slimy stuff in there...(nht from previous??? lol) anyways scrubbing it with dawn ...vinegar was a fail for me...like 15x I had to scrub scrub scrub...with the stem brush / I guess it was Never cleaned ...so...

>I sorta thought I should just plug the hole in the bottom....pepper some Barkeepers in the tube ...filler up with h20...wait for 24hrs and then scrub again.. all I can say it worked...scrubbed a bit like 2x and it was CLEAN...green stuff wasnt coming out anymore...and was running water clear...

I came up with it when I got this metal bowl which was rusted/corroded...dipped it in bkf for 2 days ...rust was gone but still ended up throwing it...got other bowls anyways eh

you'll want to wash the hookah before you use it at a minimum...it doesn't have to be extremely intensive, but enough to get the water to run clear when rinsing out the stem and hose port.

i'd also recommend washing it after use too, but just because i think it's gross to have a hookah sit dirty...

Arcane > did you have the same problems with your Temsah (sold???) ...not that I even plan on having a brass hookah

also...that green slimy look also happens on my KM when I try to put a diffuser...it easily comes off with dawn (ultra concentrated is what I use) and a brill pad (rough) <in my case its steel> Edited May 12, 2010 by Josh Hamilton

I've been using a KM that is copper downstem dont leave your hookah setup and dont put the stem back on the base after use...give a good rinse after each use wipe dry and give it a good cleaning weekly....thats it

is it worth it do you think to sell my tesmah for about 60 dollars and buy a mya mozza with the money?

I really am a clean every few smokes kind of person but with this its like a 5-10 minute clean after every smoke to get all the green gunk out and i feel a little disgusted when i smoke it

Mozza won't smoke as good as the Temsah, probably... I wouldn't trade.

Honestly if you're a lazy smoker then just get the Mozza. Even the small Myas smoke fantastic. Just do what you want, I really doubt the Mozza is gonna be a step down.

nah...the actual downstem is stainless steel...

5-10 minn really every time.......maybee they used a lesser quality copper then what should be used it should hold a patina for awhile before going green on you......quality copper dosnt do this...you never see this with quality copper cook ware( example)

I thought it was. It was 90 dollar tesmah aquarius 34 inch from hookah company.

Clean it after every use and make sure its dry. if you dont use it for a while then clean it.
