Tangiers Reviews!

Recommended Posts

Setup:  The incomparable Mya QT (the pretty light blue one); Three Kings Quick Lights
Red Tea
Smell: Not a teabag, but a well-brewed cup o' tea. (very interesting)
Cut: The patented Tangiers wet, black, and fluffy
Smoke Density: As always, those thick, fluffy Tangiers clouds. 5/5
Flavor: Very intriguing...I remember Larry David's amazement at how the Mentos people so accurately capture the essence of Orange...this flavor is difficult to describe, but the amazement factor equals that of Mr. David.  Red Tea is a smooth, relaxing flavor.  Yes, it tastes like tea in smoke form.  It is a subtler flavor, but will easily be a favorite of those in search of something new and interesting.   4.5/5

Blackthorne
Smell: Dark and mysterious, yet strangely familiar.  Almost has a meaty quality with a tart twist.
Cut: Hey, it's Tangiers. 5/5?
Smoke: Ninja thick. 5/5
Flavor: Belongs to the same strange family as Red Tea.  It is difficult to describe.  I have never tasted a sloe berry, so I had no expectations on this one.  The best way I can describe it is, given the name and the unique taste, this is the shisha that Vikings would have smoked after a long hard day of pillaging a village or two.  To clarify things the best that I can, I'll quote a good friend: "I feel like this is the Guinness of shisha."  I'll leave that one up to you.  Suffice to say I really enjoyed this flavor.   ;   4.5/5
Marigold
Cut:  Do we rate this?
Smell: Wow!  This is a tobacco that smells like flowers...not the essence of the flower, the actual plant straight from the ground!  Very interesting.  In this case, that flower happens to be a marigold. 5/5
Smoke: I love the ribbons of smoke that sit still in air.  It should be noted that the smell of the smoke smells as amazing as the tobacco.  5/5
Flavor: Wow!  Another Larry moment.  It tastes like I am smoking a flower.  It isn't an overpowering taste like some Rose flavours can be, either.  This stuff is niiiiice!  You will be amazed by the accuracy of this one.  There is a nice sugary nectar kick in the smoke as well.  Don't miss out on this one! 4.9/5
Finally...
Kashmir Peach
Could there ever be too many reviews of this?  No.
Cut: wet, black, and fluffy
Smell: You know what this is all about.  What is it?  I don't know!  Is that part of the fun?  Maybe. Normally, I wouldn't smoke anything unless I knew what is was.  With this smell, you just don't care.  An unbelievably exotic (and apparently sexy) smell with lovely hints of peach. 10/5
Smoke: Smells amazing, fills the room   5/5
Flavor: I have purchased a lot of this stuff.  In fact, a new bag came to me today.  If Willy Wonka made shisha, this would be it.  This is my all time favorite.  It is difficult to explain.  There is certainly more Kashmir flavor than Peach flavor, but this proves to be a perfect balance of the two.  This is classy stuff.  If I owned a Fez hat, I would wear it only while smoking Kashmir Peach.  Spiced fruit is the new normal fruit.  Do yourself a favor and order a bag or five. 1000/5
Final thoughts: Okay, I'll admit that I am a huge fan of Tangiers.  So much that I am trying to get a store here in Chicago to carry it.  Any of you Chicagoland folks should pester them as well. (Guess Hookah).  Also, I want to apologize in advance to anyone who finds my reviews unhelpful.  Please understand that these are very unique flavors which are more easily experienced firsthand, rather than written of.
This is just my two cents, but it seems like a fairly popular topic:
Here is what I do to get Fakher calibur smoke with Tangiers (with a QT):  I follow the directions, making sure that the bowl is filled with the tobacco evenly touching the sides, giving it time to air out and such.  I use foils with lots of holes.  The secret is obviously in the coals.  I have found (through some trial and error) that I can get super thick smoke by breaking a 33mm 3kings into quarters or fifths and placing them along the edges of the foil.  They are equally spaced, so that heat level is lower on each section, but providing an even amount through the entire bowl, making thick and flavorful smoke.  With this method, the only time I have to move the coals is when I put new ones on.  The smoke will tickle your insides a bit, but I have never coughed or experienced any discomfort this way.  It's always nice and super thick.
That's it for now.  Go Germany!
I love how you blow your 5 point rating system with a 1000/5 Great work thoughI have a question with your coal setup:Are you breaking the coals before lighting? Or after?
I don't know about him, but I manage my coals almost the same way.  I break them into quarters before I light them.  I find it dangerous to do after, though possible.  I've had embers and sh*t fly out at my face.  I use 3 of the approx. 1/4 coal pieces spaced evenly around the bowl on the edges, and move them around now and then.  It got a little harsh when I used all of them, but he may have a bigger head than I.

Catalyst- I break them up beforehand.  Three Kings seem to have a natural talent for breaking up into nice, even wedges.
Yeah, I know I broke the scoring system, but hey, it's my favorite.  KP is my "Guinness" of shishas.  That could be a new marketing campaign:  Tangiers- The Guinness of Shisha.  If not, I don't know, maybe the "eggnog" of shisha....?

You're using the standard QT bowl? Jeez, once my current supply of tobacco is done, Tangiers/Starbuzz, no doubt. Interestingly enough, my parents would rather have me by the stuff that's from the States rather than from the ME (they're Israeli, and most of the other companies aren't, but that's a different section of the forum) Keep up the great work T.Yoner
