Slack
I just a bought a hookah off of Craigslist. Pictures to come. It is a very nice looking hookah. The stem is very heavy. I don't recognize the make/mode, but I am not an expert. Well, the seller shows up at the designated meeting place. The hookah looks worth the money for decoration alone, so I take it. Well the seller didn't even empty the vase. It is still full of water. He claims it has only been used twice. When I ask him where he purchased it, he said from a friend. Well I can tell you that someone has used this hookah more than twice and it wasn't with shisha. If the seller really only used it twice, I don't blame him for getting rid of it, as I am sure it was a horrible smoke. I threw away the "2 use" hose as the tip was falling out, the stem end looks like it was chewed on by a dog and there was duct tape patching a hole. The bowl also went, it looked okay until I pulled off the masking tape that was being used as a gasket and I saw it had a big chunk broken off. It is grungy as hell. I did an initial cleaning and plenty of gunk came out, but it still smells nasty. I continued cleaning it, it has a common chamber, and when I put my brush through the holes, it gummed up immediately. I judicially applied dish soap and kept on scrubbing. Over all it "appeared" cleaner, but smells like crap. It looks very nice, but I don't think I will be using it as my main hookah as I am very happy with my current hookah, but still I want it clean. It will likely be my #2 hookah for when I want to break one out for a party. It is probably the second nicest hookah stem out of the 8 that I currently have. I don't want it to be nasty and I don't want someone to misunderstand that I only use tobacco and not NHT. What suggestions do you have for cleaning it? hookah hippie
If you need it cleaned thoroughly, try using vinegar it's acidic and will eat at the residue.
HsK BATES
Iso 91(rubbing alcohol) and salt will do that trick
mushrat
Ive used everythign from CLR to Greased Lightning. I wouldn't recommend them for normal cleaning but to get NHT residue and to remove any lingering smell chemical cleaners may be best. Just make sure you rinse everything VERY well. Can you post a pic? Some hookahs I would say fill the bathtub up enough to submerge the stem and soak the whole damn thing in water/cleaner. I had to do this with a hookah I found in the basement of the the ole Hookah Bliss.
Sonthert
I would get a cleaning product specifically designed for NHT use and try that.
thecoalition
^^what eric said - that leftover crap is ridiculously hard to get off of things. There are a few solid all natural cleaners that you can use called Formula4## - obvious blank out of the numbers. But southsmoke sells that. Slack
I am pretty sure it is an older MYA, the stem base seems dead on for MYA, though I haven't been able to find a MYA with the same cloissene (sp?) stem. I got most of the residue out with some rubbing alcohol, but I need to get some stronger and something to soak the whole stem in. It still has a less nasty faint smell. I am trying it out now, and it is affecting the taste, but not overwelming it. Sorry for the crappy cell phone images... Tom1
Those pics are terrible man, but it's a MYA for sure. I've never seen that stem either but it looks awesome.

[/quote] the April 20th stuff usually has stuff in it that you have to shake around inside the stem, crystals or the like. I've never seen a mya with a stem decorated quite like that myself. If it is a Mya its definitely an older model
Skoozle
I think I see Bigfoot in the background of the first pic.
delSol_si
I would throw it away. No way would I take a chance on it. You get searched by the cops and they test that, if they find anything illegal left in it at all, your fucked.
mushrat
eh...i probably wouldn't go that far if cleaned properly. But then again it's not me with their ass on the line.
Santino
Dr. Greens Flash if you can find it. That'll get it spotless.
chromecarz00
run REALLY hot water through it, blast it with vinegar, then with rubbing alcohol.
Zinite
+1 for rubbing alcohol and salt. Get that mixture all over it, and cut up a Scotch Bright pad and attach it to a coat hanger. Run the coat hanger through it.
