Catalyst Paintball
Does anyone else feel really sick when they smoke on a empty stomach? So heres the story, I've been working since 8 this morning, finished at 12. I havnt eaten anything since yesterday. When I got home, I really wanted to smoke some Hookah, so I did. Loaded her up with Starbuzz Exotic Peach. 5 Minutes after I got everything up to temp, I started to feel really sick. I thought, maybe it was the Starbuzz. So I dumped the Peach, and reloaded with Havana Melon. As soon as that got to temp, I felt sick again! Now, theres not really any food in my house at the moment, but I found some chips. So I figure, eat some chips and smoke. That lasted a whole 5 minutes, and now, I've given up for the day.Does this happen to anyone else?Man, I could not even get through 1/2 a 33mm 3 Kings... thepyrofish
Nicotine on a empty stomach will do that to you. Having smoked cigars for almost two years I don't really notice it much with a hookah, but the nicotine is still there. Try to have a light meal before you smoke if you haven't been eating much (like me, isn't working fun!)
Glottis
I don't smoke anything but hookah, and I personally don't get sick, even if I am smoking on an empty stomach. Many people do, though, and it's not uncommon.
aronparsons
I get a little sick feeling smoking on an empty stomach. I don't feel to the point of hurling, but the buzz isn't as enjoyable. I now try to smoke after meals or at least have a snack at the same time.
gambit13
Last night: Two parties, some Henn, Bud Light, Coastal Fog, and 3 bowls of sh*tty al Waha raspberry on an empty stomach= me sick. Left a bad aftertaste and a nasty headache before I fell asleep. Don't drink and al Waha!

hookah~rob~
al-waha seems to give me a raging headache after i smoke for 20 minutes or so. its generally better with a light meal, i tried after eating ribs yesterday and that ended horribly. Catalyst Paintball
So to end my stories on the 24th...About 20 minutes after my first post here, my friends called me up saying they wanted to "hang out". Keep in mind, I still have yet to eat anything but those damn BBQ chips. Well hanging out turns out to be drinking at like 7:00... No one has food, and I was still feeling weird from eariler. Eventually, I get pressured into knocking back a 40oz of Miller High Life. As soon as my lips hit that bottle, I knew that was a stupid decision.... 30 Minutes later, I could feel that High Life move around in my stomach, and eventually, up it came.Man, IF I ONLY HAD SOME FOOD....We should establish some good food to have with hookah... hookah~rob~
thats actually a good idea. kinda like what food goes best with what wine. i find that chicken goes well with most things. not fried but baked or broiled chicken.
mushrat
And as far as nicotine content goes..Nakhla and Al Waha, not to mention HH, are unwashed tobaccos, so they have the higher nicotine content, .5% as opposed to the .05% of a washed variety like AA or AF. So those are MORE likely to upset your stomach...
Sonthert
Nicotine, being an alkaloid, will produce similar effects to consuming, say, too much coffee on an empty stomach.
