mustafabey
What do you prefer? I would imagine the screens might change the strategy of heat management. And foil can be a pain in the butt. I've also heard tales of foil being carcinogenic or something. Is there a special hookah foil which most of you use. Thanks in advance for you input on these issues
Chreees
Any aluminum foil is fine. I prefer to use Reynolds HeavyDuty foil because it makes heat management a little easier for me. Never used a screen because I hear they just simply aren't good. The foil's always worked for me and never let me down. You're right- the screen does change your heat management. As for using foil being bad for you, I don't know. I don't think there's any solid evidence to show for it, though. None that I've found anyway. Santino
Never liked a screen.. gets too dirty, gets too hot, not enough holes. Heavy duty reynolds wrap ftw.
Sahara Man
Foil all the way! Any Heavy Duty Kind. Tried charcoal screens. Wasn't a big fan.....
ryno
I stick with Heavy Duty foil as well. When I first smoked I used a screen, and while it worked, after using foil I'd never go back.
Venger
I used both but I am pretty much a foil only guy now.You really can't over pack a bowl using a screen. Foil keeps it from expanding too much. Ray
NitetimeReign
I go with the heavy duty foil. It's nice for the heat management in the fact that I get to choose hole size and pattern. Which you don't get to do with the screens obviously.
Caila
Foil. I tried charcoal screens but I didn't like them
dizzbizz
Foil. When I was a n00b I didn't like foil so I used my screen, it worked out ok, but once I fixed my heat management I went back to foil and never looked back. I also think the problem with foil is that its not as air tight as foil but it could just be me.
CASH
I always used foil and it has worked out fine for me. What's heavy duty though? Do you have different thicknesses on foils in the US?
mxtaylor
Prefer foil, but if I'm doing a short 30 minute smoke with just myself, I usually put my screen on a Mya bowl. Works well with AF and 2 CCN's. Otherwise, always use foil.
Skoozle
I haven't tried screens yet although, I have a couple of them. After seeing the "hole pattern" Eric used in his video for packing Tangiers it looks like a screen might work ok. He really didn't have much foil left after pummeling it with the oyster fork. I'll give it a shot one day, but I doubt that I will be the one guy who can make a screen work where everyone else has failed.
yep we have regular thickness and heavy duty and even a super heavy duty (but it is hard to get your hands on.) regular is thin and flimsy. Heavy duty is stiffer and thicker and super heavy is like they unrolled a soda can. Ray
