hippsylake
So , I am told two different things. That two hoses are better and that four hoses are better. I want to use the Hookah at small parties and for rec. smoking for two. I don't want to burn through tobacco quickly. Any thoughts? Fuzzy
Most of the forum, me included, are fans of the one hose hookah. With multiple hoses only one person can take a pull at a time and the other person has to keep their thumb over the tip. MYA pipes have an autoseal feature on their multiple hose pipes so the thumb over the tip of the hose isn't needed. I think with those you lose the ability to purge smoke which is a major downfall in my mind. As for the burning your shisha fast, the number of pulls you take, type of tobacco being smoked, size of bowl, and heat management all play a part in how long the bowl will last. The hookah itself shouldn't play a part in how long a bowl lasts. Have a good time smoking.
thatonethere
I used to own a 3 hose KM, but putting my thumb over the hose so the others can smoke can get a little old (no check valve). So if you decide to get a multiple hosed hookah, make sure the hose ports have autoseal valves. I downgraded to a single hosed hookah since when I smoke with someone I don't have to worry about the thumb feature. Plus, I only smoke with one other person, so this works for me. The other forum members will most likely say that Mya would be your best bet for hookahs with multiple hoses. I own a MYA QT with a single hose port, but I couldn't really say which type you should get since the QT is the only Mya I own. I will say this though. Avoid crap if you can. If you find a good sturdy hookah that won't rust for a decent price then go for it!
mushrat
a 2 hose is more than enough. You can't all be smoking at the same time anyways so why make it any more unstable by having 4 hoses hanging from it. Also, passing the hose and taking the time to sip a drink or get some oxygen into your system is never a bad thing.

When I was buying my first hookah, I was trying to decide whether to get a 1 or 2 hose setup; in the end, I decided to go with a single hose hookah and I'm quite glad I made that choice. Slack
I personally have a two hose hookah and wouldn't do without. Me and my girlfriend usually smoke hookah together and we both hog the hose. The 2 hose keeps us from getting in fights. Autoseal is also a requirement for the same reason. More than two is pretty much a waste. Most Myas single hose hookahs can be converted to a double hose by removing the hose connection and vent, and adding 2 autoseal hose connections (~$5 each). Also remember if you end up at a party with people you aren't sure where their mouth has been...lol Get the mouth tips for sanitary reasons. Always better to be safe than sorry. :-)
mitchard
A one hose hookah works fine for me when I have small get togethers and two person smoking. People just have to learn how to share I recently picked up a two hose hookah since I have been without one for a couple years. It will be nice if I have a ton of people over for a party, but I would still rather use the single. A party with a two hose pipe leads to people pulling in different directions (thanks drunk friends!), which ends bad when people aren't careful. Thats my only gripe. F16WarBird
I added a self sealing hose port to my Mya which turned it into a two hose pipe and I don't have to worry about the person on the other hose forgetting to put his/her thumb over it when they're not smoking. I can't even begin to imagine the headache of managing a three or four hose hookah. Especially when alcohol is involved. bellydancerakn
You really only need a 2 hose if you have more than 5 smoking at the hookah. And really? How many people can you comfortably fit in a circle with a 3ft or 4ft radius with room for pillows and food and drink? If you really need at 2 hoser, just buy a one hose MYA and then get an extra hose port.
KeepItSimple
I'm a fan of having multiple one hose hookahs haha. That way when people are over you can have a variety of shisha being smoked, and you don't have to worry about the problems with multiple hoses. Unfortunately thats twice as long to pack the bowls, and your gonna use more coals, but in my opinion its a good trade off. If your set on bringing it around with you, and to other people's parties, then only go with a two hose, and a Mya is most likely a good idea, due to the autoseal function. Venger
I have a mya QT that can take the extra hose port. Since I have been smoking hookah I have used that port once. Ray
Caila
I would go with a 1 Hose Hookah especially if you are only going to be smoking with a couple people. I have only ever owned one hose hookahs and I don't think its a pain when i have parties, and I have had friends who own 4 Hose Hookahs and when someone forgets to cover their hose it is awful! A 1 Hose will just make your life simpler and it wont be a pain when you are smoking alone.
ilikemyusername
I have a 4 hose Mya colossus. Most of the time I just use it as a 1 hose, but it is nice to have the option for 4 hoses for when I have a party.

But if yer gonna have 4-6 people, then having 2 single-hose hookahs, with different flavors packed in each makes it a MUCH more enjoyable session than having 1 hookah with 4 hoses. IMO. insidius
When I FIRST started, I went with a 4 hose. Regretted it and always ended up only using 1 hose anyway, as the 'sharing' dynamic felt better with one hose. Later, ended up getting a autosealing Mya with enough ports for 4 hoses, just in case, but again, only ever ended up using 1, we like the passing mechanic. .love.hookah.
You should get a 1 or 2 hose, a 3 hose at max! I've been to lots of parties w/ hookahs, and 2 hose is perfect!
rahl071
The only reason for a 4-hose is when you and 3 other people are completely smashed and cannot function well. everyone has their own check-valved hose. all you have to do is relight coals every now and then, and prod them occasionally. 2 hoses, for just about anything you will do, is just enough. I personally like the bigger myas. they have the option of supporting anywhere from 1-4 hoses. Edited May 30, 2010 by rahl071
