mustafabey
I am assembling a traditional hookah from parts. I have an older clear painted Egyptian vase and have purchased an old Khalil Mamoon stem. Now I need the perfect hose. Actually I'll probably need two. One, a good washable, like Hookah John's narbishes or Razan. Then I need a hose that is beautiful. On my other Egyptian, I have what is called a luxury caravan hose, with turned wooden tips and a long handle with pom poms. But it all its beauty, I don't think its washable. So in your opimions whats the most beautiful traditional hose out there. My second question refers to an ebony wood mouthpiece that Caravan trading sells on eBay. It says that it fits all egyptian hose with removable mouthpieces? Are mouthpieces removable and if so how is this done? I don't want to ruin a good hose with ham fisted DIY techniques. Thanks for you advice
Chreees
A lot of the wide-gauge hoses such as Narbish, Nammor, Razan, and maybe Khalil Mammon (not positive) have removable mouth tips. That's what Caravan is talking about. It's to use on hoses where the tip easily comes off. As for what is the most beautiful traditional hoses out there, I'm going to have to go with Khalil Mamoon's hoses. But I'm not sure which ones, if any, are washable. Also don't know which ones will give you the removable mouth tip you're looking for. I'll leave that for someone with more expertise in the KM hose area. Out of Narbish, Nammor, and Razan, Narbish is the most traditional looking washable hose with removable mouth tip, in my opinion. However, you need to be aware that the Narbishes have a very long and heavy hose port handle, making it difficult to get your hose to stay in and also may upset the balance of your hookah. Fortunately, the version 4 Narbish is eliminating this long, heavy hose port handle, so that won't be an issue anymore. Hope this helps.
mitchard
Chris nailed everything in regards to the washable hoses. I personally believe the Narbish is the best washable out there right now. It feels a lot stronger than the Razan I have. Last night I tore one my my Narbish hoses apart as a part of a project I am working on. The hose was sealed very well. As far as a more traditional hose goes, I love these: http://www.hookahcompany.com/km_signature_tundra_4700_prd1.htm The KM Tundra hoses are not washable though. If possible, a KM Ultimate hose will also do the trick, though they are not washable either.

I actually really like the look of the washable hoses as well. Most of the higher end hoses have removable mouthtips, but the grand and some of the Khalil Mamoon do not. ih303
The best-looking unwashable hose, IMO, is the Elephant hose. It's got this beautiful carved wooden tip that has an ornamental ring hanging around a narrow bit of the tip. The handle is not very long, but its diameter is about three times that of any other hose I've used and covered with a very plush velvet. One of the most interesting things about it is how the hose itself tapers from about 1.5" at the bottom of the handle to about 0.5" near the port-end. From what I've seen, it's the most classy traditional, unwashable hose. As far as washable hoses go, I love the length and quality of the new Narbish's. But like mentioned earlier, the port-end side of the hose is way to massive and heavy. A good alternative I've found is the Razan Abu Mahir. It's an Egyptian style hose, like the Narbish, only not as long and with a much more manageable port-end.
