Hassouni
One of my good friends is doing an internship in Cairo this summer and she's interested in buying a shisha. What's a good place she can go where she won't get extremely ripped off (she's Japanese-American and has only studied Arabic for a year so she stands out)? I suggested the Khan al Khalili but she says it's very touristy.
mitchard
How about the KM factory/store, assuming it isnt actually burned to the ground? Haha.
Chreees
I second Mitch... Seems like the only logical place to go.
Hassouni
Eh she's not a hookah nut like we are, I think anything solid will do. In any case, are KMs made in Cairo or elsewhere?
mitchard
I believe the factory is in/around Cairo. And they should be relatively inexpensive compared to the prices we are playing over here.

[/quote] I'm not sure if the factory/store is in Cairo, but they are VERY inexpensive compared to what we have to pay... You're looking at getting a $120 OG Trimetal for like $30-40... Webbles
Does she speak arabic? If so, there is a HUGE open air market in Cairo called Khan Khalili Market. It spans many city blocks. She will have hundreds of different pipes to choose from. Have her go to the Khalil Mamoon Shop, i believe there is one in that market. If not, just have her pick from some of the many many pipes sold by the vendors. Keep in mind, it isnt for the squeemish. If she cant speak arabic, have her go with any arabic speaking friends she is interning with. Tourist prices are 5x higher!
