Longest hose

Recommended Posts

A lot of people will recomend against vinyl tubing, but I use the stuff exclusively... Go to Home Depot or Lowes and check out the plumbing isle. I believe the diameter I use is 1/2mm outside and 3/8mm inner diameter. Its around 2.99 for 10' and 3.99 for 20'. I just get the 20' spool and cut it into whatever length I want. If you read the label, it says they pass all health and safety laws, and are good for food/water use. People say to watch out because when vinyl tubing is heated, it releases harmful chemicals, but hookah hoses are never exposed to heat, unless you're smoking outside and expose it to sun, but even that doesn't seem like it would make it hot enough to cause any harm.So yeah, they're not as authentic looking, but work 10x better IMO. They are super easy to clean, and never give you any of those black particles which get in your mouth like on traditional hookah hoses.
Take the grommet out, just jam the tube in there.
Like Glottis said already, just shove that baby in. It was Glottis who actually started the vinyl tube idea in our group of friends. I haven't looked back since. http://www.socialsmokehookah.com/item--Min...ingle-Hose-Hook ah--EG01I have an egyptian style hookah, but a lot of hookahs have very similar hose ports as the one showed in this picture I got from socialsmoke.com. Just stick it in. It should go in around 3-4" before it won't go any further. Makes a nice, tight seal.

Careful with extended hoses, the longer the hose, the weaker the flavor. The particles that are responsible for the taste of hookah smoke are relatively large, and a longer hose simply gives them a bigger surface area to get stuck on. Also, extremely long hoses can generate back pressure that can sometimes screw up air flow.

The vinyl is rigid and nonporous enough that the backpressure it generates @12 feet is unnoticeable, and the flavor is just as strong because the particles aren't lodging themselves on the hose.In any case, if you are curious about these hoses, they are very cheap, so there's no point in not at least giving it a shot. Home depot, plumbing aisle.

lowes... plumbing section... took the gromet with me, found a hose that fit right *1/2"*.... and ten foot hose for $2.57 and I got a tip for it for like .76 cents... yeah, I LOVE IT.  Smokes great, amusing to see, nice for length and easy to clean.  It might not have that traditional hose look that alot of people like, but it works for me, is cheap, and I personally recomment people to give it a shot.

I could use a longer hose in certain situations...like when 3 or 4 people share my QT and we have to pass it all over the place. Li'l guy nearly gets knocked over.  That, plus I have a fondness for ghetto-rigging stuff.  You should see my car.  All safe and perfectly functional, but looks funny. Little C-clamps holding my airfilter on and whatnot.

I use a leather hose, all the time and it has a top piece that is at
least 18"...sometimes I attach an old headpiece to it and its at least
2 1/2 " long! Just the rigid top section, mind you.

Pressure drop in a fluid along a tube is caused by a static layer of
fluid that sticks to the wall of the tube and then the fluid actually
slides along the layer of stuck fluid. This effectivly makes the fluid
flow a function of surface area of the static layer which is given in
terms of the inside of a cylindrical surface. The pressure drop
function is then a squared function so the pressure drop of a 1/4" tube
is more than twice as much as it would be in a 1/2" tube. Sorry if this
isn't very clear...I'm reading it off of the back of my "Science
Toasties" cereal box.
