brigita
If this has already been posted/thoroughly discussed, a mod can feel free to delete this topic. I just saw this on AOL News and found it interesting/surprising. Isn't Egypt basically hookah central? What will this mean, if anything, for our beloved KMs? (I have yet to buy one... maybe I should get on that sooner rather than later.) Here is the link. Cole.
I think production would still happen, though perhaps at a slightly lower rate. I mean, other countries are still willing to buy them. Price may or may not rise but I have faith KMs will still be around.
Rani
They're not banning smoking - just smoking in public. Like every other flippin' "gotta do what's right for our population who are too stupid to make their own decisions" country. Ours included. mitchard
They aren't banning smoking in general, just in public places. Unless they can work loopholes like we are able to in some states, it might mean the end of the shisha cafes. But smoking at home would still be legal, so I imagine that it won't completely destroy the hookah market over there. Edit: Looks like Rani suck that one in before I finished haha. Codename067
Egypt might be the last place to even ban smoking entirely haha

NitetimeReign
I'm just trying to wrap my head around this whole let's ban smoking outside and raise taxes so high you can't afford to smoke inside thing that everywhere has got going on. But let me see, Government anywhere doesn't care if someone drinks til their liver falls out..and then they could even be stupid enough to actually drink and drive and possibly kill an entire family. Sure they go to jail, but that doesn't bring anyone back. And yes I know they tried banning alcohol, didn't work so good huh. But alas it is the smoking that's soooo bad..lol Just shaking my head going wow.

[/quote] True, in most cases. But, for tobacco, if they can still make folks pay out the can for it, it will be around in stores. And, I think that banning tobacco altogether would cause WWIII, if not just from cranky smokers being forced to quit. Ha. [:
