Nakhla v Al Fakher

Recommended Posts

I've been smoking my shisha for about 8 months, mainly my MYA QT but
previously my beloved Egyptian pipe.  Having been to Egypt I only
smoked Nakhla for 3-4 months as I couldn't get any other brands in the
UK - favourite flavours being Double Apple and Cherry (a few were quite
poor though).  Anyway I got hold of some Al Fakher (legit stuff)
and been smoking quite a bit of it and am finding that I actually
prefer to smoke good old Nakhla.  I knwo the AF has a nice wet cut
and often the smoke is thick, but I just find it a bit sickly overall
and now prefer that slight roughness that you get with Nakhla.

I was desperate to smoke some AF after all the praise on here but does
anyone else think that maybe this brand isn't all it's cracked up to
be.  And I am not trying to be controversial for the sake of
it......but do you think there may be a bit of AF snobbery against
Nakhla?

A while back I offered to trade some Tunisian Pomme de Jerba (apple
flavour). I got  only one taker surprisingly as it is a really
rare brand.  But I'm smoking a lot of it.  Very subtle
flavour but very smooth and extremely enjoyable ma'ssell.  I might
even offer some more to trade for interested people as I am probably
going to get some more of it when I return to Marrakech this autumn.

Cheers

Like all brands, there are good flavors and bad. I keep Nakhla on hand if I want orange, for example, but Al Fakher if I want grape. There is no such thing as a perfect brand and every brand has some off flavors. I do like that Al Fakher comes in a tub as opposed to Nakhla's box, but you do pay for that in the price as well.Nakhla can usually be depended on for a good cheap smoke if it's a flavor you like.

I like AF Bahraini Apple and Double Apple and Cola, Alamir for Lemon/Orange, Starbuzz for Lemon Ment.
I just got my first Tangier order "Red Tea", but I found out I ran out of coals.  I am itching to smoke it but will wait to get some good coals, I was thinking about burning a table at home and making some coals ...  but my wife would not have approved.
