Just jailbreak it and get Installous!
What are the advantages/disadvantages to jailbreaking?
Advantages: Extra Customization : I've had wallpapers for over a year. I can have icons 5 by 5 rather than 4 by 4. Theme customization. Free Ringtones : Tons of them, for free. Extra Apps : Ever wonder where those cool apps like google voice that apple rejects, end up? On the Jailbreak appstore. MyFi : Turn your iPhone into a wifi access point for your computer. Free Apps : People Hack and Upload Apps from the apple store to Installous. I've gotten 30 dollar apps for free, and some 10 dollar ones too. SB Settings : Access your settings to turn on/off bluetooth, wifi, 3g, ect.. all without entering the settings. Basically faster management. http://www.iphonehacks.com/2009/02/sbsettings-offers-faster-method-to-manage-your-iphone-settings.html Disadvantages: Updates : If apple releases an update. You lose your jailbreak if you update and have to start fresh. Re-download, Re-customize, ect.. Also, you have to wait for the jailbreak community for re-crack apples new code when they update. I haven't updated to iOS 4 because of that. My jailbreak has more features than upgrading to iOS 4 does. And since it's not cracked on the iPod touch 3G, I'm not going to update until it is. I don't think the iPhone 4 is jailbroken yet either, just FYI. But in the future - you might want to consider it when it is done.

I knew the 4 wasn't broken yet, was just inquiring what all jailbreaking can do. I'm sure I have plenty of time to think about it while they figure out how the jailbreak 4. Chreees
And hey everyone, try to sign this petition... http://www.petitionspot.com/petitions/fixouriphone4/ I'm not having any trouble with call quality for mine, but I have noticed when I hold it a certain way, especially with my left hand, that I do lose bars. Either way, help me get a free bumper! I think everyone that got an iPhone 4 deserves one... And the people who bought one should get their money back. Apple's official word on this issue is laughable: "Gripping any mobile phone will result in some attenuation of its antenna performance, with certain places being worse than others depending on the placement of the antennas. This is a fact of life for every wireless phone. If you ever experience this on your iPhone 4, avoid gripping it in the lower left corner in a way that covers both sides of the black strip in the metal band, or simply use one of many available cases." You got your Microsoft fanboys (PC and/or Xbox), Sony fanboys (PS3 in particular), and even cell phone carrier fanboys... It goes on and on. The Apple fanboys say crap about the Microsoft fanboys, and the Microsoft fanboys do the same in return. It's like anything else in life; an endless cycle that's just what it is. So Apple is not the only one...
porksandwich9113
I agree in a way... As a person who owns or has owned all of the following : 1) PC 2) Macintosh 3) iPod touch 4) Verizon Service 5) Sprint Service 6) Motorola Phones 7) LG Phones 7) Nintendo 64 8) PS2 9) Xbox 360 I think apple fans are just a tick higher up on the crazy fan scale than ANY other tech device. Apple following is like a cult. Don't even try to deny it. Now honestly. I feel like I can say that from an outside opinion. Because I like to pick apart what is wrong with everything from every tech brand out there. I know Microsoft fail sometimes. I know Apple fails sometimes. I know Sony Does. I know Nintendo Does. Hell, I even admit that Linux does (albeit rarely). But in all these platforms out there, APPLE fanatics are the MOST FUCKING CRAZY that exist.
Just to Add They are the biggest blind followers. They are generally the least tech savvy. They are highly illogical at times, defending how awesome the OS X and it's derivatives (iOS 4, ect) are compared to windows, despite the fact that they can't properly manage a windows machine - having no basis to even make a comparison. Hell, my brother has never owned a windows machine in his life, and he bitches about how bad they are. These are Mac followers. Then you get to Computer Science and Computer and Electrical Engineering majors. What do they all use? Windows and Linux. If it's Macintosh based hardware - it has Linux installed. And the saddest thing of all - I solved every single problem on my family windows xp computer using google. My parents doubted me at first, but now every time they have a problem they call me to fix their shit. Now I build my own Personal Computers - write my own programs (starting third year CS major), have an on the side repair business and iPod repair business as well. Trust me. Anyone can use Mac, Linux, and Windows. Anyone will like them as long as they don't suck as using them. Whats the difference between these 3? Mac is the most handicapped operating system ever written on the face of the planet.
Chreees
As someone who doesn't build PCs, I like Mac. I needed a Mac for school for Final Cut Pro. That's why I got my Macbook Pro. I was very skeptical of if I'd like it, but since I've had it I've fallen in love. The Mac is MUCH quicker than my Sony Vaio laptop that was running Vista. I've played around on people's laptops that had Windows 7 and still Mac OS X is quicker. This is all in my experience, of course. Others may have experienced something entirely different. Now that I've gotten a Mac, I don't think I'll ever go back, no offense to anyone on here... It's never crashed on me or slowed down or ANYTHING, compared to my Sony which messed up all the time, whether it be some big crash that made me restore my whole damn computer or just something simple as removing some little virus. Since I do not build PCs and don't play PC games, Mac works for me, especially since I need it for school. It being hella fast and never messing up on me are just huge pluses that I wasn't anticipating. I don't consider myself a fanboy... I just call 'em like I see 'em.
