Bye Bye Touchdown Jesus

Or butter Jesus (looks like they made him out of butter), or quicksand Jesus (looks like he's in quicksand and needs some help), whatever you want to call him.

You can see this gem, or used to be able to, right off of I-75 in Monroe, OH which is a bit north of Cincinnati. It was in front of a megachurch. How nice that they spent all of that money building a huge Jesus statue instead of helping people in need, but isn't that how it usually goes? Oh and they intend to rebuild their huge Jesus statue.

Anyway, lightning struck it and it caught fire. I so wish I had been there to see that. Part of the church also burned. But don't worry! They intend to rebuild our wonderful touchdown Jesus. Thank goodness. What would we do without it? Drive up (or down) 75 without seeing his beautiful face? That would just be terrible. I really need that entertainment.

Anyway, you can read the article for yourself but the best part is the picture gallery. Maybe it's a sign that lightning struck it, who knows!

My best friend texted me about this today!! I'm so so sad. Scary Jesus, as my family called him, was a big landmark to us. We'd pass him on every trip down to see family in either Ohio or Florida... Tennessee... just tragic.

Also, my friend mused about it being a sign too haha

Years ago I was living on the west side of new york. There was a neighborhood catholic church on 84th st I think. Anyway a couple of us were sitting in a bar and saw lightening strike the steeple, and knocked the cross off. we saw the priest walk out, look up and ponder for what seemed like a very long time. He subsequently retired. Obviously smarter the people in Ohio
