Coal Heating Help Please!

Recommended Posts

Ok so Im new to hookah, went to a bar for the first time and loved it.

So I decided I was going to invest in a hookah, one issued the coals and heating them.

I saw at the bar they did it on a grill like thing and most videos etc I have seen use stove coils weather it be electric or gas...
WELL I have a flat electric stove (hence no coils)... so that rules that out I suppose and no outside grill etc...

I was looking for suggestions on how to heat coals in other various ways other than these...
Also I would like to understand quick light coals, Iv read they are nasty, smokey and make hookah taste bad... But are quick lights that convenient to my situation?

Help would be greatly appreciated!
Thanks!

Go to walgreens or any other big box department store and buy a single coil electric burner. It costs about 10 bucks and is portable. If your lazy you can get quicklights; CH and three kings are the best from what I've heard. They are nice when you don't really want to wait for it to heat up and when you don't want ash all over your stove.

The single coil is the way to go, although I have lit lots of natural coals on my flat top stove and it works fine, just takes a bit longer.

The mates are right, I got my single coil burner on amazon for 12$, can't be that, but I'd like to say don't be afraid of quick light coals they come in handy in situations where you don't have electricity i.e. I take my hookah to the drive in and quick lights are great. Stick with the Three Kings brand though I haven't use any other quick lights that could touch them with a stick.

Yeah I am going to agree. Just get a stand-alone one-coil burner. Those are good for camping too! (and smoking hookah while camping.)

I dunno what kind of camping you do, but all the camping I've done doesn't have power outlets :)

I use the single coil burner when there's power (it take's a long freakin time to get red hot though), and I also have a portable gas stove for when there's no power...something like this..http://www.wokshop.com/HTML/products/hard_to_find/portable-butane-stove.html

THANK YOU! I was thinking where the hell does he have power outlets when camping? Unless he's in a RV, in which case it is not camping anymore.

I only used quick lights but am planning on switching over to naturals. In order to use your kitchen stove to light them it has to be a coil? What happens if you try to light them on a flat electric, damage the surface?
