On a whim, I decided yesterday to go by a Vietnamese Supermarket in Arlington Tx on may way back out of town.
Unfortunately.. the market has moved or is no longer in business. I decided do drive up Cooper a ways into what I knew to be a more ethnic area. I never found my another vietnamese market, but I did find a Middle Eastern/ Arabic  market between Arkansas and Park row as you go north on Cooper from I-20
My wife actually pointed it out.... "well, theres a Turkish Market."... something she read as part of the sign on the front. A couple of seconds pass before it hits me. I bet they got Hookah.
So.... with lemon grass and Nouc Mam no longer on my mind.... I flipped around and we headed in....Sure enough .. above the frozen section lockers were around 10 or so hookahs of all makes... many I had never seen advertised before... anywhere.
A fella comes up and in limited english asked if I needed a new one.... he would sell me a complete one for $59..... I asked to see it. He goes back and pulls 3 boxes out and opens one... a standard looking Syrian made with a chrome stem... I asked if he had one in gold..... he commences to open a second box.... this one is completely different, and I'd never seen one like it. It wasnt gold... at least not everywhere....... but "I'll take it." was the response. I imagine that there would have been a different type hookah in each box he had... who knows.
My wife turns around and directs my attentions mehind me. There were tubs of ma'asell behind me an all manner coals. More brands and varieties than I had seen advertised. Huh? This is wild!
I would have liked to grab one of everything to try.. but after the hookah, I just grabbed a $6 box of Nakhla 2apples and headed out.

This was found at the end of the downstem where you usally would find a soldered on nut. Its a diffuser. A scan of the diffuser named the Al Nawras filter follows.

Got it home and smoked a couple bowls... seals up tight... no leaks in the soldering. I noticed that the hose is wrapped on the outside with a high tensile wire instead of a nylon string. Interesting. I do have an adjustment to make to that diffuser by pulling it down a bit.. but otherwise, Im a happy camper.

Its 26" tall...
I pulled the diffuser down, the little holes on the side were being covered by the side of the downstem. Smokes better now. Very quiet... and has more even draw.
Ive jacked with diffusion in the past...mixed results... my creations sucked evidently... this is much better. I could really get used to this..

A diffuser is a generic term for a device that forces the smoke out of the downstem in multiple smaller holes. The idea is that by doing so the smoke gets more contact with the water itself..... some folks find this makes for a smoother smoke. To each their own.
I honestly dont know who's selling "diffusers" I thought there was at one time.

Serious... use the search feature, I think there is a thread about them somewhere... some people made their own diffuser... I wanna try one, I wish my hookah was quieter.
