I'm glad I have cigar/cigarette smoking neighbors. I would guess they have seen me smoke hookah a couple of times but Ive never puffed it at them in close range. Although I haven't done a necrobowl outside or inside for that matter. For some reason it's been very windy every time I smoke out the deck.

I smoke when it's windy too, and it blows past their house. What makes me laugh is that people don't mind the smell of cig smoke (which can gross me out depending on how I feel the day I smell it), but when someone busts out the hookah, they act like everything is so horrible. I think it's because people are conditioned to smelling cigs and cigars. Sure people don't like the smell, they tolerate it (unless some tobacco nazi doesn't want anybody to add their tobacco smoke in the air, then they make a law for it or put up a sign). Pesonally, if I had a choice between smelling smoke, I'd prefer hookah smoke over cig or cigar smoke any day.
Idk...I don't get people sometimes.

For the record, the houses on my block are old, meaning the walls are 3 brick widths thick. I doubt any smoke is entering their home. I check to see if their windows are open, and they never are. People in general need to understand that sure, somebody might want to smoke outside, but how is that different from several cars going by creating exhaust, or someone idling in the driveway. With either way, something is producing smoke here. A person smoking outside is a lot better than smoking inside, where the smoke can escape, and fresh air is available. Yes, I agree about not letting my smoke enter someone elses home. That 's a big no no for me. I'm lucky that none of my neighbors open up their windows at all. I shouldn't worry about it so much. The person who complained only visits, and doesn't live there. The residents are fine with me. I'll wait until the residents speak. If they do, then I'll comply. If they don't then I'll smoke when I want to.

I just thought you guys might appreciate a non-enthusiast perspective on the issue. Would a smokeless ashtray kind of setup really harm your enjoyment of the hookah?

I'm not sure what you mean by "smokeless ashtray setup."

You could also stop by and apologize, or perhaps even introduce yourself to the daughter. You'd need to go to the source to find out if it actually bothers them rather then worry constantly that it might from a distance.
