Ice Inclusion

Recommended Posts

I have played around with a number of different methods of chilling the vase of my hookah, but I can't decide which is the best. I tend to prefer freezing about an inch of water in the bottom with no free ice, but I have also done that. One method that worked well but was time consuming was putting ice rings around the stem. What do you prefer?

Flavor is subdued at colder temperatures. What are you looking for, a colder, potentially smoother smoke, or more flavor? Freezing water in the base isn't a great idea, as it can crack your base....

When I've wanted to make super cold smokes, I freeze the vase EMPTY, then fill it almost the brim with ice cubes, then fill with cold water.

I love a smooth, chilly smoke. Nothing about fuller flavor can compete, in my eyes, with an icy blast. As to damage to the vase, it is triple blown pyrex courtesy of a glass-blowing friend. Any damage to it would be a story worth the loss for telling.

Well then freeze your base with water in the bottom, then pour in shaved ice, then ice water, and freeze your hose and stem. Perhaps put your base in a bucket of ice as you smoke too...Also a diffuser might help cool the smoke off
