cloudmaster89
I like the design of the phunnel bowl, but I tend to get headaches when I smoke with this bowl. Think about it there is more heat trapped in a small area than if you were to just use a regular bowl. A lot of the heat escapes down the bowl through the stem to the base every draw you take from a regular bowl. Would just poking extra holes in the foil when using a phunnel help out with this problem. Cause lastnight I got a headache after smoking al-fakher grape mint out of the phunnel bowl. I fell asleep with a cold rag on my forehead. It was unbearable.
boludo
You may be doing something wrong with your packing or heat management, or (most likely) you could be getting dehydrated, try drinking plenty of water during your session.
Josh Hamilton
its the shisha not the bowl (meaning it has buzz)...also ur smoking it like its oxygen...try taking it ez drinking juice, water / being hydrated also helps Edited July 9, 2010 by Josh Hamilton
no longer welcome
it could be other factors. what hookah are you using, is it very short? also, what coals. coals are the biggest contribution to getting headaches imo. some are just cleaner than others. it may not be the bowl, however, i wanted to ask, the phunnel bowl a "chinese" one or tangiers or alien? any of these factors can be an issue
Stuie
Sounds like a packing and heat management problem not a bowl problem.
king_lunchb0x
i get headaches from any type of bowls..of course not all the time, usually deals with some other factors not just cause its a phunnel, always good to drink something while smoking, and for me sometimes its just the dyes used in the tobacco (or some other chemical that may have been added) that can get me feeling shitty. Chreees
Not your bowl, brotha. I'd say it's your packing technique or heat management. Walk us through what you're doing.

The phunnel shouldn't be restrictive at all, though.

I only poke holes underneath the surface area of the coals in a circle underneath the coal. Then I smoke. I'm guessing that it's really hot and all of that hot co2 is getting in my lungs giving me a headache? Please help. Thanks, Greg
Josh Hamilton
try using 2 coals but play with their positions (edge less heat < to center u get a little more)...then if its not enough/smoke add a half or 1 whole > your bowl probably burns too fast coz you have lots of heat...then the smoke is kinda harsh
ukhookah
Try swithing brands. Try nakhla, pack it tight with the phunnel and see if its better. I personally find I get the most headches with alfakher. Since I've changed over to nakhla, no problem. And the smoke is much nicer and smoother. Not just where your coals are. Also, what kind of tobacco are you using? Pack Al Fakher, Starbuzz, Social Smoke, and the like fluffy and light. Pack Tangiers and Nakhla tight, really tight. This will give you the best results. As for your coals, try using ONE 3K coal, splitting it into halves. One half on each side opposite each other. Report back. mattarios2
So you get a headache with a phunnel but not with an egyptian? If that is the case you are most likely under-packing. Pack more and see what happens.
