Jax Coffin
okay so I'm looking for a book on hookahs. what im wanting, specifically, is a book that i can use as a reference to fix my hookah. i have several hookahs and a few of them have not been smoking right. i would like a book that shows how a hookah works (internally) and how to fix minor issues. does anyone know of such a book? or a good place to look for one? (I have tried books-a-million and Barns&Noble but haven't had any luck)
Skoozle
put "randy stratton" in the barnes & noble search field. Otherwise, a hookah is very basic. Smoke comes from the bowl, goes down the stem and collects in the vase. From the vase, it goes out of the hose port, down the hose and into your mouth. What type of minor issues are you trying to fix?

[/quote] i have a three hosed hookah and one of the hose ports will not hit. i have tried everything i can think of. i usually can fix my hookah with no problems. i have had several hookahs over the years and have always been about to take them apart and fix them like a pro but this new hookah i have is impossible. the port is twisted on there so tight that i can't get it unscrewed to see what is clogging it. and i bought the hookah new and that one port hasn't worked from day one. Stuie
Got a pic? My first question is, Is it suppose to screw off? Second, Where did you get it? Third, PIC????
Skoozle
By "will not hit" do you mean you get air but no smoke, or you can't get any air flow through the port at all. I'm guessing no air at all because you want to find what is blocking the port. If you have autoseal ports then your autoseal ball bearing is likely stuck. Try some sort of penetrating lubricant to unstick the valve and possibly free the port so you can unscrew it. Of course these are all guesses until we see some pics. Chreees
I asked what kind of hookah he has because if it's Mya then it most likely is the auto-seal ball is stuck... Jax- Can you see into the hose port? Does it look like something is stuck in there? EDIT: Take some electrical tape, wrap it on the hose port, then take some pliars and rip that sucker off. Chreees
My friend had some off-brand hookah that had three hose ports. One of them did not unscrew. Maybe that's the case?

Have you tried using one of the other hoses on it?
Skoozle
If it were mine, I would try to lube it up as much as possible then try to stick a wire or a coat hanger up through the blocked valve from the vase side (in the direction smoke would flow) to free the ball.
