srawas89
Hey everyone I was wondering if any of you all knew where to go to find a good quality hookah at a cheap price in the UK. More specifically London. I have a friend who is going over to London soon and she wants to buy a hookah but she didnt want to pay the $90 for one in her area. Are the hookahs cheaper in price over in London? She doesnt really want to spend more than $70 at most so even if she can find that online that would be awesome too. Thanks for the help in advance
Hassouni
You're so in luck man. I'm in London now, and tomorrow I'm planning on an exploratory trip of Edgware Road (the Arab Strip) looking among other things for shishas. Will let you know what I find. Hassouni
Yo just got back from a 5 hour walk all throughout West London. Al Mustafa is just display looking shishas, nothing I'd want to smoke out of, and they seem expensive. Excellent news though: Two locations have a big line up of KMs, not super huge ones, but ranging from say 26-32 inches, for, here's the kicker: 35-55 pounds! That's SO much cheaper than anywhere online. The two places are Al-Baraka grocery, with a maroon colored awning all in Arabic (with a tiny sign saying Baraka in English), on the left side of the road as you walk up from Marble Arch. Recognize it from the awning and hookahs outside Amazon, with a big blue sign in English, also lots of hookahs on display. These are AMAZING prices, I'm half tempted to get one myself... :

Did they have single or double pear KMs, if you remember? I got my Gelato from Al Mustafa, it was quite expensive. I wanted a QT or a Bambino but they couldn't find it, they just had the box! I don't remember what I paid for the Gelato but it was a bit over the odds and was only even that 'cheap' because it was at the QT price because she couldn't find it. She kept trying to feed me some egyptian cakes/sweets. Edited July 17, 2010 by mohinder
Hassouni
The grocery store didn't have pears to my recollection, but Amazon had the World Cup football ones, and possibly a tri-metal, can't fully remember. Still man, those are amazing prices for a KM...

I'm in London for a few days at my girlfriends, going to go to edgware and queensway in a couple of days, I'll have a good look at both places. Can check that out tomorrow or Tuesday too. My bet is Edgware Road is better, since that is the epicenter of London Arabs

The guy I usually go to who had loads of AF and some fake AF which is actually pretty good, had sod all. All empty boxes. I said 'well what have you got then?' and he was like 'cherry'. Blah! I did get a charcoal holder for £8, new tongs too because I lost my good ones and I regularly drop charcoal with the stupid flat Mya tongs. Got some Nak from there, then went to Edgware, saw the cheap KMs, lots of plain ones all really similar, nice though. Saw the Trimetals too, one heart ones, only ones I saw with prices on were £65, still nice though. Didn't ask prices in Al Baraka. Got myself an orange KM hose for £7, one of the cheapo style ones. I find they smoke just fine but obviously don't last all that long. Been on the lookout for an orange hose to go with my new trimetal with the orange vase. They had really nice clear floral KM vases in one of the places too. Got some Nak as well while I was at it. Anyone else noticed there's hardly any AF about lately? I didn't see even 20% as much as when I was last up there. Anyone know why? This is multiple shops too in Queensway AND Edgware.
mohinder
Oh! I did see a couple of Pears at Al Baraka. They had some single green pear ones. Might have to grab one at some point. Holding out for hookahshop to get a double black pear in though.
Hassouni
So UK lads, I'm moving to London for several months in about 6 weeks (I'm currently there now, heading back to the US until September tomorrow morning). What do AF and Nakhla usually run for? Am I better off bring off several packs with me in my suitcase? I can get Nakhla for $6 and AF for 9 or so back home

Although saying that the Nak I got yesterday for £8 feels underweight, I think it might be really old. Tenner everywhere else. Main problem is that there isn't anything else except AF and Nak, and even then it's not all the flavours. Just the staples really.

[/quote] The reason why there isnt much AF about as there usually is, is because of customs cracking down heavily on tobbaco coming in on planes etc, including shisha flavour. i could get a KG of AF for around £30, recently though its gone up to £50! I was speaking to a hookah lounge owner and he said you just have to wait it through, sooner or later the prices will start dropping again, hopefully...
