Robotic Vacuums

I've been thinking about getting a robotic vacuum, like a Roomba, too keep my floors a tiny bit tidier. I have no problems with wiping down the counters and doing laundry...along with other numerous cleaning duties. But there's two chores that i HATE doing....washing dishes and cleaning my floors. The dishwasher has got me covered on the former, but now I'm looking to get something to help me with the latter.

I'm assuming that a roomba will never clean as good as my dyson and mop, but i'm looking for something that at least can pick up dust bunnies, pet hair and loose dirt....going from carpet to hard floors would be helpful too.

Anyone have opinions/experience on robotic vacuums?

Lol.. Yea, I have stepped on a few at Sharper immage too. My mom got one for her house once, she said that it works good if you only have a small area to do, but they are crap for an entire house. And hers made this annoying buzzing sound all the time. So it was not like you could watch TV or anything while it was running.
May as well do it your self and get it done faster. JMO.

Roomba's suck. Moms had one. It never worked right/good. Dyson and elbow grease ftw...

i like my dyson...and don't mind putting in a little elbow grease every now and then....

but, when you start getting into 14-16 hour workdays....cleaning during the week seems almost impossible....i'll save the dyson for the weekend cleaning..

i've discovered a new vacuum called the Neato XV-11....looks cool....

I fall under that category as well, I kinda put off any cleaning ofany sort for about 3 weeks so i could smoke in the evening and head to class during the day.

you are so unbelievably lazy.

HE'S LAZY!!! I think I'll take that medal there... My desk has about twenty soda cans from two weeks worth of drinking soda at the computer...and I barely cleaned them up ten min. ago.. I have a glass inside a glass on my table infront of the TV from when a friend visited me when he was going back to base from his home in California last month ...

SOME DAY I WILL CLEAN MY APARTMENT ... the sooner I get it cleaned the sooner I can start dating ^.^ ..

THOUGH if you buy a roomba you need to buy a roomba dueling harness http://forums.xkcd.com/viewtopic.php?f=7&t=30682

Keep your windows open and a small piece of dynamite suspended mid air should do the trick. The concussive force should just blow it out.

Beware of the roombas especially if you have pets. I read a story once where someones dog dropped a deuce in the house and the roomba started cleaning....it got everywhere.

that's not really lazy...that's just digusting...

lazy is driving to your mailbox at the end of the driveway...or buying GC's because you don't want to get up to light new coals....or teaching your dog to fetch the remote.

not throwing soda cans in the trash is just gross...the lazy way is to move your trash can to the computer...that way you don't have to get up...
