i just saw this at the h-s site. very interesting idea. but wonder if its actually worth it, i do like the charcoal filtration though. anyone considering buying these?

The holes are too small so I had to poke extra ones at the bottom of the bowl, causing the foil bowl to crush a little. It's good for someone who wants to try a little bit of starbuzz at a time without having to commit to a 50 g tin though. That's the only plus side of this item. Edited by thatonethere

It's not a new idea check out my Mabruk review in the shisha section - these don't come with charcoal.

John has them too.

I will pick up a couple to try. If they are decent I might keep a few on hand when traveling but not many at that price!!!

Yes, it's goes great with my 400 dollar Ed Hardy 15 hose hookah.

I think it'd be better on the 6 hose rotator!

I don't see the point really in it. Are we too lazy to pack our own bowl and holes now?

Honestly, I don't think it's a bad idea. Although I'm not surprised 1) that the folks at Starbuzz came up with this idea, or 2) that they failed.

I'd say a pretty large percentage of innovative ideas are born out of the desire that most of us have to be more lazy. Even in this industry - quick lite coals, pre-cut foils, autoseal ports, etc. It's not news that people are generally willing to pay more money to do less work.

I have a hard enough time paying 20 bucks for a 250g tin of starbuzz, much less 3$ for 10g.
Secondly, who the hell is that lazy? I mean seriously?
It take what? 5-6 minutes to pack a bowl - put on foil, poke holes, and get the coal rolling?

While it is an "interesting" idea - it's going to flop.

interesting idea, and i would try it if someone handed it to me, but i dont think i could spend money on it. it seems more geared towards the new-to-hookah people that might not really know how to pack a bowl or something.
innovative? yes
worth it? i highly doubt it

looks like something i made a long time ago using a tea lite . Minus the charcoal filter , Dont see a point to that. It turned out ok not the best smoke ever but it was not a crappy one funny thing is i used starbuzz when i did it . Lucky SB here is 16.40 for a tin so if i feel like smoking Sb i only have to shell 2 more bucks than i would for AF .

Seems like you could just create these yourself with tea light cups, bulk tobacco and foil. In a way interesting to me because I have a friend who makes little foil pillows of foil wrapped tobacco, pokes it top and bottom before tossing the whole thing into a bowl and then piles charcoal around it. She claims it works really well because it cooks the entire little ball of tobacco all around at the same time, but honestly I haven't gotten around to trying her method yet. But the similarity is interesting.

I made one of those once, and I didn't really care for it. Sure, it was very easy to clean, but I don't think the smoke was that great (it was a long time ago so I can't remember exactly how bad it was). I remember getting a lot less clouds.
