Just Had A Terrible Experience

My younger brothers went off to school this morning and my father is out of town, so I decided to take out the good ol' hookah and light up. I used ice cold juice instead of water in the base, for what it's worth, as I have always preferred it that way. Anyway, about twenty minutes in, the juice actually starts going through the hose and into my mouth, making me go grab a cup for spitting, something I've never had to do. I emptied the base a little and it was okay until it started happening again. I emptied it some more and the problem appeared to go away. Nearing the end of my session, I decided to take a long and huge puff and suddenly, a gush of juice goes through the house and into my mouth. My gag reflex kicked in and I spit and vomit all over the hookah and my bedspread; then I felt faint and came to a while later, my face caked in vomit and saliva.

Why did this happen? Why does the juice + tobacco lead to one vomiting? I feel like shit now.

Damn, man! Pretty gnarly story.

First off, what kind of hookah do you have? And second, how high did you fill the base with juice?

Generally, the only way you'll get liquid in the hose is when it's filled so high that the bubbles created when you pull smoke into the base bubble up to the opening that leads to your hose port then hose. Most of the time, the fluid settles in the lowest part of the hose and you can feel it gurgling about every time you draw. My guess is you were probably lying on your bed smoking (since you referenced your bedspread) and you actually positioned your hose so the juice moved ever closer to your mouth eventually resulting in your unpleasant experience.

As for the vomiting, it doesn't surprise me that you'd puke after getting a throat full of juice tainted by shisha drippings and hose funk. [img]http://www.hookahforum.com/public/style_emoticons/default/bad.gif[/img]

My guesses are that you may have not gotten all the liquid out of the hose. It could have bubbled up into the hose as well. Moral of the story, stick to water or dilute juices with water so it doesn't bubble up on you.

yeah the pumpkin is the problem . even withnormalwater ive gotten a few spits of water from the hose for a nice small hookah get a QT wish i had one for indoor smoke

That probably would have made me throw up too!!
I just had a nasty hookah event that made me throw up last weekend. I went to my roommates friends house. They said they had a hookah and wanted me to bring them some tobacco and coals. I set up the hookah and lit the coal. I could tell they hadn't cleaned it in a while and I was giving them an OCD clean your hookah lecture. When I drew on the hose something Solid came through!!!! I think it was stuck in there because it was hard to draw and it just shot into my mouth! I spit it out and ran outside and threw up like 15 times. I couldn't smoke hookah for 2 days without thinking of it!
What could have been in there? It was like a quarter sized white gooey thing. Just thinking about it now makes me nauseous!

I know!!
I have no idea what it was and that makes it even more disgusting!! This person must have gone months without cleaning their hookah, but even then I don't know what it could have been! This has made me scared to smoke out of anyone elses hookah!!
