Coleman
So a few weeks ago me and 2 froeds were smoking some hookah out a a homemade hookah i put together (its a P.O.S. need to go out and by one but cash is tight) But then my friends decide to go to the gym (i have no idea) but they left me there with a bowl that had only been lit for about 30 mins all alone.... So i continued smoking it and finished it about 2 hours later. After smoking for that long alone i figured I would have become sick or somewhat naseaus (probably spelled that wrong). But my question is if you smoke alone do you ever just feel sick after?
NitetimeReign
I can say for me I never have. And except for here lately I've always smoked alone. Oops I did for get about the one time I got sick but it was because I was smoking butterscotch, not the fact it was alone. brigita
Yeah. Or if I'm with someone who is being dumb and only wants to take like two hits and call it a night. I used to get sick all of the time after smoking a lot but now I can handle it a little more And yeah, some flavors just make me feel gross. agunn1231
when i started smoking i felt sick a lot...to the point i would have to crawl across the room and pull myself into the bed and just close my eyes and hope the feeling went away....but eventually that type of experience went away....of course, that was back when i thought the only shisha out there was HH. Patrick
You develop a tolerance to it, I used to get sick to my stomach, but not anymore.
Skoozle
I've had headachs from not getting enough fresh air between hits and I've had the sweats from getting alot of nicotine when it was already hot outside, but never sick to the point where I felt like blowing chunks. rahl071
No sickness here. I usually eat some toast or something though, which REALLY helps.
Seconded, fairly often.... but I actually have blown chunks once - mind you, questionable leftover seafood being eaten prior to smoking was probably the real cause, but the shisha pushed me over the edge methinks. kyleSD
i'm usually by myself and i only get sick when i smoke if I'm hungover or it's super hot and stuffy in my garage, but even then it's not like nauseous it's like a weird uncomfortable feeling. porksandwich9113
Only shitty flavors. Such as cinnamon. The worst I have ever had is a head-ache from too strong buzz. Other than that I feel great.
questions
i personally feel that if I smoke alone, I hit the bowl so much more than with a friend..therefore get a bit light-headed...just my 2 cents
Giant Ninja Robot
A - you're taking more hits with less time between thus introducing far more nicotine into your body than when you have group sessions. That's the nature of nicotine. B - Oxygen deprivation. C - Make sure you're hydrated and it can sometimes help to have a bit in the stomache before an extended session. I like a cup of tea or two while smoking. D - Nicotine is a mild laxative so you may have to poo after a solo session If you continue to smoke with greater frequency you'll build up a tolerance. Although I think some people are more sensitive to nicotine in general. And the body is a fluctuating organism so don't think you cant get sick from smoking simply because you have built a tolerance. Part of why I stopped smoking much at all had to do with feeling shitty after sessions. Not sick so much as slightly nauseous and exhausted, and I used to smoke ALOT.
I think I might be one of those people. I smoke solo a lot, and I've been forced to take a hiatus from the hookah (7 days and counting) because I get nauseous sometimes, and headaches suck even though I drink plenty of water and eat a decent meal before my sessions. I've been having alergies and upper respratory issues as well. The only flavours that make me nauseous are Tang Kashmir (or any flavour with kashmir in it) and Nak Cardamom. I have to take it real easy and slow with these flavors. Edited July 26, 2010 by thatonethere
