Is It Bad To Light Quick Light Coals On An Electric Stove?

Recommended Posts

I've done it that way before, works fine but leaves a residue on your stove top that is pretty damn hard to get off, so I'd just get a 10$ single coil burner from walgreens. Much less of a hassle.

i cant imagine it be all that bad, shouldn't take too long to get them going. yea some fine residue goes everywhere. but just take a scubby side of sponge after it cools and it should be ok.
the Flat top stoves have a non-stick layering... well ive seen it on my family's super new stove. The question is should u leave them on the stove for several minutes or just let them spark and shut off off and let them do their self ignite. thats your call of course

I lit some CH QLs on my stove-top coil before on accident. They were in my box of CH naturals. I guess someone fudged up when packaging them. I knew they were QLs for two reasons:

1. They smelled like shit.

2. They sparked like crazy on my stove.

Needless to say, I was definitely "WTF?!"

This.

Never light any coals on a flat top stove. You risk the chance of cracking the glass, which is very expensive. I used to light my ch nats on my flat top until I found out from these guys that I was rolling dice by doing that. I love my single coil burner from Walgreens.

I never remember to buy lighters so I usually end up having to light mine on my stove top, but mine is a coil stove so I'm not sure about yours. Edited by Caila

This. Works like a champ. I like all my coals (nats ql's) this way. Best part since my smoke detectors are so sensitive in my iapartment, I just get an ext. cord and use the burner outside to the light coals. Those HJ QL never fail to trigger the smoke alarm.
