Dogseatfood
So the hookah I have now is a Social Smoke brand, and I've been enjoying it so far. I'm looking into buying a bigger one here pretty soon. Here is the one i'm seriously thinking about getting, opinions? Hassouni
For that money, I think most of us (myself included) would HIGHLY recommending getting a KM, Mya, Al-Fakher, or as someone else recently inquired, Nour
SweetNut
Well since you have a SS pipe already, why dont you try out a different brand?... like a KM.... and compare them to each other

Hassouni
Khalil Ma'moon (aka Maamoon, Mamoon), it's a famous brand of Egyptian shishas, they tend to smoke like beasts and are widely available online. However, other stuff smokes like beasts too....

Hassouni
I think I can safely speak on behalf of TwoapplesPlease who said that his new Elmas nargile smokes better than anything he's ever tried. Get one of those and you'll be one of very very few people on the forum with one (kind of a hassle though, you have to order from Germany or Turkey)
porksandwich9113
Dog, I can personally tell you that some of the Social Smoke Hookahs are crap. I bought the 18 inch Junior at a tobacco shop while on vacation. (It was kind of a spur of the moment thing) Anyways, 6 months later it is already having rust problems.. I probably use it a lot compared to your average hookah owner.. But if you like to smoke daily, get a Khalil Mamoon (KM) nice Mya or a Magdy Zidan (MZ). http://www.hookahcompany.com/all_hookahs_37_ctg.htm That site has a great selection of KM's. And sadly John from Hookahjohn is on vacation at the moment - but he has an amazing collection of KM's and other things.

NitetimeReign
I agree with Ray MYA is a great hookah and you can find them in sizes you can't find the KM at, which makes them very versitile.

Dogseatfood
I don't know... after last night. I got a really solid buzz, and the bowl lasted about an hour. I mean.. SS I'm liking so far. Then again I'm still very new.
ryno
Everyone will say KM on here now. When I first joined, it was Mya Vortex instead of the KM Trimetal. I think Mush said at one point it was those Stargate hookahs. Hookahs come and go in fads. Reason people recommend KM so much? Its a reputable brand, but so is Mya, Nour, Temsaah, Elmas and MZ. joytron
honestly i would wait before you buy a new pipe to see if hookah is something you want to stick with. If you upgrade and want either a very small hookah or are dead set on a multi hose I would suggest getting a mya. Other than that I think there are other pipes that are superior and cheaper. jorlyfish
About the buzz and stuff from your SS - if you're new, pretty much anything will give you a buzz... part of the joy of being new or taking a hookah hiatus. Finding it once you're smoking on a regular basis is harder.
ih303
It doesn't really matter what brand of hookah you get, they're all going to smoke about the same. Instead, focus on things like size and build quality. A pumpkin hookah made by KM would still be crap. And I've had problems with all the name brands that I sell at my lounge. Personally, I don't understand the hype about KM's or MZ's. Most of the KM's coming out now are thin, hollow, pieces of crap, yet somehow they are still stupid expensive. And I've never understood MZ. They're the lightest, thinnest, hollowest hookahs I've ever seen and they all look the same. I haven't been impressed with anything either of those brands has come out with in a while. When it comes to hookahs, I'm a big supporter of two brands at the moment. Nammor and Temsaah. With Nammor's you'll still see some of the hollow designs, but what makes them unique is the bases and trays they come with. Not to mention the price is just about right considering it's the only brand to come with a washable hose. Besides, I've been told that some of the stems on Nammor hookahs are actually KM and MZ. The difference being is you're getting much more for your money with a Nammor. Temsaah is a brand that continues to impress me with every hookah that I get from them. First off, their prices are completely reasonable for what you're getting. Their hookahs are generally solid brass, some stainless, some with nickel plating, and are built like tanks. I love the weight of them and the very classic look. Personally, I'd take a Temsaah over any other brand any day. I've compared these things side by side over and over again with the same results. No one brand stands out above the others as smoking any better. They may FEEL different, i.e. IMO you don't get as much of the feel of smoking a Mya vs a traditional egyptian, but how much smoke you get out of them depends almost entirely on other factors besides the hookah. I surf and the greatest surfers could ride anything and still be better than most people in the water. The difference is they crave that last 3% you should never feel you can outperform your equipment. If you are taking the time and effort to do something right why not maximize your performance. Josh Hamilton
yea but...hookah is not a sport I think he was trying to say its the rider and not the horse that wins races (which to me can be trivial if you have jockeys with special tricks) Edited July 28, 2010 by Josh Hamilton
