If you're looking to engage your brain, Pan's Labyrinth, Fracture, Sins of the Father. If you're looking for entertainment, Book of Eli, Legion, The Fast and the Furious, and anything else with stuff going fast and blowing up.....

Pan's Labyrinth is mind blowing. It's fantasy, but reality, and you never quite figure out even at the closing credits what it was. And because of the historical period it references, it's very moving.

Seen Sunshine already and own on blu-ray (highly recommend, amazing in HD), shawshank about a hundred + times, boondock saints 1 was good (2nd was horrible imo...wtf was with the Mexican guy in an Irish movie?)
Zombieland, inglorious, lord of war and dark knight i all own lol so those were done.
Rani i also like your movie taste, the only one i hadnt seen from yours was Fracture which ill look to see soon. And Pans Labyrinth is defiantly an acquired taste, i own it and enjoyed it though.

The Hangover ive seen near as many times as ive seen Shawshank, so that is done for me for now.... it constantly makes me crack up when the word ra-tard is used amongst my friends.

Ty for the recommendation on hard candy i thought it was great.

Im going to check out Crossroads tonight and Dinner for Shmucks tommrow.

Naked gun= flat epic.

Thanks for all the recommendations everyone. I'll look forward to any more, as i'm too much of a movie buff and tend to be running out of good movies.

When you see Fracture, let me know what you think. An unusual "who done it" with several twists and if you can possibly believe it, Anthony Hopkins is somehow even creepier than he was as Hannibal Lecter! I'm not much for comedies though. An exception is "The Birdcage". Robin Williams did such an amazing job of portraying what you might call "mainstream" gay. Right now in my player is "Frida" which i never got around to seeing when it was originally out even though as an artist, I have more than passing interest in Frida Kahlo. But I caught a few minutes of it recently on broadcast, and immediately thought "I have to own that movie!" So I've seen it 3 times so far and that led me to deeper research into Kahlo herself. An amazing woman and very deftly portrayed by Salma Hayek.

And I'm still crazy about what I call "women kicking ass" movies, Wanted, etc. Especially when you add things blowing up, car chases, guns and action. When it comes to movies, I either want to be purely entertained, or taken into a place of reality about someone who lived an incredible life.

Rani,

Just looking at your last sentence of what you added, I can only hope you've seen the movie "Salt" which recently came out in theaters. That movie is definatly the definition of a "woman kicking ass" movie.
As to "Fracture" I'll let you know how it goes, i have it all set to watch tomorrow.

Thanks again everyone, this has given me at least a few good movies to see!

movie i recently saw by the way "the girl with the dragon tattoo" was absolutely great. No its not a Chinese martial arts film it is rather a mystery movie, and it is dubbed. Check it out, you wont regret it.
