final fantasy 8 then 7, then 2 in my opinion. 9 Is too easy, 10 is too Japanese for me, 12 was wtf real combat, and 13 just sucked.

so, i'm interested in picking up FFXIII but, i heard it was more live action combat....which, imo, kinda goes against what i think FF should be...

however, i've also read that FFXIII is fairly linear (which i actually like)....

is there a FF game for the PS3 that's pretty linear and involves the turn-based combat system?

Do you want to know if there are any actual Final Fantasy games (aside from XIII) on PS3 or are you looking for similar games? FFXIII is the only FF for PS3 but some linear turn-based RPGs you can check out are Eternal Sonata (kind of childish in appearance but actually pretty deep and philosophical story-wise), Valkyria Chronicles (strategy RPG with a deep battle system), Resonance of Fate (also somewhat strategy-like).

cool thanks...

however, none of these are really turn based games.....valkyria chronicles actually looks pretty cool though and maybe i'll give that a shot later on down the line...

The combat systems in those games are turn-based derivatives, though you're right...not "pure" turn-based. I rarely see any purely old-school turn-based games anymore. I could name you 3 off the top of my head for Xbox360 (Blue Dragon, Lost Odyssey, The Last Remnant) and an endless amount for the Nintendo DS but none for the PS3.

valk chron is strange, very different from the average tb rpg.

id look into the old rpgs if your looking for that style. legend of dragoon. legend of mana. Chrono cross these are all great.
