Al Waha Packing Method Phunnel

Recommended Posts

cant seem to find this searching here or on the internet, i have gotten pretty good at packing but cant seem to get al waha right. Always has a strong charcoal taste even with less coals. Im using a small tangiers phunnel, 2 sheets of regular wrap and 3 rings of holes with 2 coco's at first then gradually one more. Anyone have a good method?

Pack it in there hard. Don't leave it fluffy. Go find mattarios' thread about packing naklah I believe it's in his sig.

That's pretty much my general rule - and it's worked for me pretty well. If it's one of the old school brands, (or Tangiers which is old school made new), pack it tight and solid. If it's "new fangled" just dump it in and go for it.

I like many of it's flavors. IMO, it's a lot like the El Basha line of Nakhla for me. Not really strongly or candy flavored like a lot of "modern" blends, but generally very smooth with more of a hint of flavoring. Enough to taste, but definitely more enjoyable by someone who's not looking for smoking candy. It comes in great tubs with screw on lids and plenty of stirring room - something those fancy tins don't have. And it's close to the same general price range as Nakhla. Orange Dream is good, so is Bounty. A lot of people swear by their chocolate mint, but I'm not a mint inclined girl, so you'd have to ask someone else about that. Their Vanilla is more like a pure smooth pipe tobacco without any real true vanilla flavor at all. Definitely worth a try in my opinion.

I havent had a charcoal taste with AW in a phunnel unless it gets too hot, which can be easy to achieve if you throw too much coal on... I did have the fig flavor get really ashy once and I thought i did everything right, but it was a discounted outdated batch...maybe you have a batch thats old or extra dry?

Grab a pack of their mint and a pack of their rose. Blend and enjoy.
