SpoonTunage
So about 2 weeks ago my mom went to move my Hookah and of course she doesnt know any better and doesnt grab the base and boom, yes you can guess shattered base. So yesterday I finally got my base in the mail along with a new hose. Excited to try my new hose (mya long handle) I fix the bowl and light the charcoals. When everything was said and done i couldnt even smoke the hookah because it was so harsh the entire time and was not enjoyable. I tried everything to fix it but nothing worked. I've been smoking hookah for years now so please do not assume that I am naive when it comes to techniques on fixing this problem. However I then pulled my smaller hookah out and was convinced it was something with the hookah. Boom same problem. Now I was just baffled. Thinking at first that it was the charcoals or tobbaco. So now i switched my charcoals out and got a different tobbaco, but same problem. At this point now I was extremely frustrated. It was now getting kind of late and in a last ditch effort I used my small hookah and switched the hose to my older hose. Now I had great smoke and flavor. It turned out when I was trying to get the hookah started and going with the brand new hose it was creating harsh smoke. So what I had to do was start my hookah with the older hose and once it was going switch hoses.....I know sounds extremely odd and I was really confused myself. Has anyone else had this problem or no a solution for this? On another topic when I try to blow in my hose the release is zero and i can not blow any air in period. Not sure why. I have a 3 hose (never use all 3) MYA Obelisk. I believe that ever since Ive had the hookah ive had trouble with the purge valve part. Any advice ect would be helpful with either of these siruations. Thanks. Sorry for long Post

Sorry for long Post
welcome. for that first part - i have absolutely no idea. tru just breathing through the hose while it's not attached to anything. maybe wherever you bought it from had the hose stored next to something foul/nasty and it's messing with the inhale and whenever the hookah gets going the smoke from the hookah covers up the foul odor - idk. for the second part, you probably can't purge because MYAs use an auto seal system so you don't have to block the hose ends whenever others are smoking. there is a ball bearing in the hose port only allowing air flow from the hookah to the hose but not from the hose to the hookah base. you can remove these ball bearings rather easy (there's a screw in the side of the hose port, unscrew it and you can tilt the hookah and the bearing will fall out). best of luck!
Yes it was the ball in the adaptor. I just took it out of the main hose and works fine. As for the first part. Could coals cause this? Or possibly the tobacco? The tobacco was a fresh starbuzz (blackberry flavor) which I have smoked in the past. As for the coals. Whenever i get it started i noticed the bottom of the coals are going out and turning black. I am using the natural lemon wood coals. Any other ideas maybe?
IainUM
that's really weird. I know you can't really wash the hose, but does the handle come off? maybe try and check it or just blow really hard into it without the hose attached to the hookah. maybe there is something clogging it. only reason I can think of
