What'S Wrong With My Set Up?

Relatively new to the Hookah scene.

Came with "poker coals", never heard of them, but my smoke doesn't seem to be thick enough. I've followed instructions exactly, so I'm starting to think maybe it's the coal, or the tobacco itself. I'm smoking Al-waha watermelon, orange, and apple. Anyone have recommendations for where I can buy good stuff online (coals, tobacco, etc).

no clue about the coals, but that certain vendor is a banned vendor. i suggest edit it so that the website is not mentioned at all before a mod does it for you. =/

lol, i didn't address the issue at all in either of those posts. basically, experiment. try more coal, try less coal, focus on heat management. you kinda have to find what works for you. i have never really tried al waha, so i can't help with the packing stuff =/

Edited your original post because you mentioned a banned vendor. Please take a look at the rules and the banned vendors list.

Now to address your problems.... I'm not sure how to pack Al Waha, never had it. Also never heard of those coals. So I can't help much. Can you maybe post some pics of your coals and your bowl so we can get a good idea of what you have so we can help ya?

Basically what you'll wanna do is stir the tobacco, drop it in the bowl 'til it is even with the rim, apply foil tightly, poke holes evenly spaced all over using a toothpick or something similar, then add two pieces of coal. Have them on the edges of the bowl opposite of each other. Rotate the coals around as you smoke. Add/remove coal if it's not enough smoke or too harsh. Allow time for the bowl to heat up, though. Start there and see how it goes.

I've smoked Al-waha 5 star and I pack it pretty much like everything else. Fluff it until its a little over the rim then push it down softly with a fork or just place the foil right over it. I usually use 1 QL, but everyone does things a little different so play around with your heat management and you should be able to get it smoking.

I smoke a fair amount of AW, and have never had any trouble getting it to smoke. I either pack loosely in a traditional bowl or tighter in a phunnel/vortex and use 2 coco coals. Let it heat up before smoking, and if it starts to get harsh move the coals our further or remove one altogether. AW does not smoke as thick as Tangiers or a super goopy shisha like Starbuzz, but you should still be able to get some pretty bomber clouds and enough buzz to make standing up difficult until you breathe some good 'ol O2 for a while. I have no idea what the performance is like with the coals you have, but AW does pretty well with heat. I'd say push the heat to see if it will thicken, and if you toast it, then start over.
