Mikefu
Is your hookah clean? What type of shisah are you using? And are you letting the coals light completely and ash over before smoking? Also, maybe you're using too much heat?

Mikefu
Hmmmm. Id say too much heat. Some ql's burn pretty hot. Try breaking one in half and use half on each side or the bowl, rotating them initially after about 40 seconds until the entire surface has been in contact with the coals to char it and get a protective crust built up. Then smoke normally, waiting a bit between pulls. Oh, and make sure you light the coals off the bowl and wait til the coals are white and ashed over before you start smoking. Hope that helps. Mikefu
you are talking about the metal stem that the bowl goes on and extends into the vase, right? If so, use a stem brush and soap and water or water and lemon juice if you prefer. theres really not a way to clean it well with out getting it wet. just dry it out well after you are done scrubbing and rinsing.
