Well, it would seem that my throat is itching, and I just started coughing today. For weeks though I've had a LOT of phlegm in my throat, so I've been hacking that crap up everyday. I don't know what's up with the congestion, but the coughing and itchy throat just started today. Well, I've been craving AF Mint. I went to Nashville and picked up Mint and also AF Gum- since Stuie's review on it hyped it up to be very good. I plan on smoking one or the other today, probably the mint, and I'm curious to see if it helps my situation or not. I've heard people say that yes, mint shisha does make them feel better when they're having sinus issues. So vote on if it has helped you or not and I'll be seeing for myself today if it does!

On a sidenote, I really wish I had some Tang Ubermint...

I fire up some Mizo mint when I have snot issues. It helps break it up for sure. So it helps. But then I think about the sickness and my already reduced O2 levels being further reduced by the smoke, and then I get sad, but usually smoke anyway

Hey Chris anytime my wife and I are having sinus issues we fire up straight mint and then exhale through our noses as much as possible at first. Then it Starts breaking that stuff up and we can exhale more through the nose. So In my experience it has done a good job with sinus issues. But I can't say I have had it help with an itchy throat, never really tried that one.

I find that smoking any flavor helps to get junk out of my lungs if I'm suffering from allergies or a cold. I always joke to my wife "see, its healthy! It's helping me clear mucus out of my lungs and it's like a humidifier to boot."

smoking any flavor usually clears up my sinuses, but mint or spearmint are the only flavors that help me with a sore throat

allright, I'm no doctor...but i have heard this from doctors and nurses, and its very easy information to find from reputable sources if you try (internet, doctors, books, etc):

Smoking damages the celia, which are the tiny microscopic "hairs" in your nose that help drain mucus (i.e. keep you clear - keep you from feeling congested). When you smoke more, the likelihood of nasal congestion increases. I know this from experience too. Its also the reason why so many smokers i know are on daily regimens of mucinex, and other forms of pseudofed (nasal decongestants).

So...smoking mint may make you feel better...and often helps the scratchy throat as well...but the act of smoking in general will not help the congestion. Take it from someone who's smoked hookah while under the weather with bronchitis, sinus infections...and oh yea...2 springs ago...swine flu. (no joke lol).

I'll keep that in mind. Yeah, I usually don't smoke while I'm sick. But since I've had this congestion for weeks and it hasn't really been bothering me a whole lot, I don't really mind smoking right now...

+1

It's best to wait until you are all the way better. Otherwise you'll be prolonging your illness.
Trust me. I've been there, and still regretting smoking while sick (had bronchitis since feb, and still dealing with it). Just get some throat spray or some cough drops with menthol in them. Edited by thatonethere

Hahaha B, I actually have been taking some off-brand Mucinex. Helping with the congestion. Been smoking only AF Mint and Gum, which makes my chest overall feel better when I'm smoking. Kinda like temporary relief.
