SaintPendulous
I have a Blackberry storm 2 right now, and i definatly love it, i use the internet all the time so that helps me out alot, i was wondering if there were any tech savy people or ne one that has a droid or a blackberry storm 2 that can help me decide on whether i should get a Droid with my upgrade
IainUM
i have a friend that has a droid and he loves it. my dad has a storm 2 and has had a lot of problems with it. i would say the droid since, correct me if i am wrong, it has both a touch screen keyboard AND a physical one with keys. i HATE using a touch screen keyboard. plus, from what i can tell, the droid is a lot more "app-friendly" and they have been basically trying to compete with the iphone and i think have been doing a good job of it
chris.mallia
Personally, I would go with the Droid, which apart from a nice slide-out keyboard, it's also loaded with the Android OS, which is basically the future of mobile phones. It's an open source OS which is highly customizable, very powerful and has increased dramatically in popularity. There's even an app store for Android. Cp44
I have the Storm 1 and I'm upgrading it to the Droid X which I should be receiving today. I played around with the Droid at the store and I really like it. The CPU is very fast, web browsing is quick, the programs launched fast. The typing is great and when the 2.2 OS comes out for it, it will have the swype technology.
A13lackFish
i have the storm, the droid is 30x better then any blackberry, unfortunately the storm 2 has nothing on those new iphones or droids. Seriously id go with a droid for my next phone.
brigita
I have a Droid and thought I'd use the physical keyboard instead of the touch one, but I was wrong. I don't like the physical keyboard cause all of the keys are flat and too close together. I have relatively thin fingers and I don't know how someone with bigger fingers would deal with that. The huge app store is nice, although I hardly use any apps. I really just use the internet and texting. That said, the Droid can be very, very glitchy. It was on my last nerve this week. There was an update for the phone, so I downloaded it. I noticed everything seemed a lot slower, but I wasn't too worried about that. The next day, it deleted all of my text messages and then totally messed up my contacts for a bit. For instance, my friend Caleb would text me, and it would say it was from my friend Randall. The message was obviously from Caleb because it was something we had just been talking about, and I hadn't texted Randall in days. The really annoying thing was, if I tried to respond to that message, it would send it to Randall! WTF! So I was getting messages from people, very confused about why I was sending them messages about weird things they knew nothing about. I was SO PISSED OFF at this stupid phone. If I hadn't been really busy at the time, I would have taken that thing right back to the store. I turned off the phone and turned it back on, and everything was okay again. Still very frustrating and alarming though. When I first got the phone, it seemed like there was an annoying new glitch every week that I needed to learn how to work around. That's why I stopped downloading apps, because some of them would make my phone totally mess up. And sometimes I think the phone is unnecessarily complicated/I don't feel like experimenting with it to make sure my alarm is going to go off in the morning or that it will actually vibrate when I receive a text. I get really annoyed at times. Sorry for the vent. Sometimes I really hate this phone but I don't think I'd take it back. It does what I need it to (usually). And if I had to choose between another Android phone and a Blackberry, I'd go with the Android. I think the Blackberry is getting outdated.
OBY
I have the Htc Evo. I would choose the Droid. The Android operating system is extremely solid. It's very smooth and just awesome in every way. I have used almost every brand of phone out there and so far I like how open the android os is.
Chreees
I don't know how you feel about Apple or just the iPhone in general, but Verizon is supposed to be getting it later this year or early next year. I have one on AT&T and love it. Hasn't messed up, glitched, or anything yet. Just food for thought. But for Verizon Droid X is the hottest phone right now. Get that or the HTC Incredible. From what research I've done, they are the two best phones on the Android OS platform. If I had Verizon I'd probably get the Droid X.

Twisted
Droid2 came out a few days ago. Same internal hardware as DroidX and comes preloaded with Android 2.2 and Adobe Flash 10.1. DroidX screen is bigger than the Droid2. All it comes down to is would you want a physical keyboard or a touch screen keyboard.

Wouldnt normally call someone out, but i hear this b.s every year when its around the time for Steve Jobs to make a big announcement or a new set of phones are coming out for verizon, it wont happen, not once not never! [/quote] I believe it will, as they're making CDMA iPhones right now as we speak, and what other provider would they go to? Probably the biggest CDMA provider out there (Verizon), but that's not necessarily so. AT&T is screwing up, according to others, not me, I have no problems with AT&T, and the contract supposedly runs out beginning of next year, which is when the CDMA iPhone is supposed to hit. I agree usually it'd be B.S. but it seems a lot more likely this time. I'm not saying it will for sure happen, just saying this time looks more promising for those wanting an iPhone on Verizon's network.
Jeff_T
I've got the original Droid right now and love it, it's the best phone I've had so far. I came from a BB Tour, which was great, but the Droid blows that BB out of the water. As far as what Bri said, I have heard problems with the VZW release of Android 2.2 (Froyo) OS, but I believe it has been fixed or is being fixed very soon. On the other hand, because the Droid was so customizable/hackable, I've been running a flawless version of 2.2 since mid-July. I've also overclocked my Droid (from the original 550mhz to 1.2ghz) and have never had overheating, battery drain problems, etc. I know the Droid2 was just released and other than practically being the same as the original it does have some upgraded hardware and I believe has already been rooted (hacked) which is just a little added bonus, if you're into that kind of thing at all. Like Bri said, I was expecting to use the keyboard a bit since I had been used to a physical one in the past, but I use the touch keyboard about 99% of the time. The physical one is great for games, but that's about it.
