rhineholt
4 times nicotine, 10 times the carcinogens, and 70 times the tar compared to a cigarette!!! According to the news, that's what it is!!! I don't know why you guys are smoking hookah! It's soo bad for you! I honestly want to know where they get these facts.... If it was 4 times the nicotine, wouldn't that mean I would get addicted quicker? I feel no addiction to hookah...
Arcane
are they comparing the entire package of shisha to one cigarette?

agunn1231
well it's been stated many times that smoking anything is unsafe, but i do wonder where these facts come from sometimes.

dizzbizz
Doesn't something have to be combusted to produce tar? Shisha isn't lit on fire..
Click
Lol. I have never seen one fucking gram of tar. Have you guys seen that video experiment where this guy hooks up a vacuum to a bottle and "smokes" 400 cigarettes through it. He gets around a glass size amount of liquid tar. If shisha had some much tar wouldn't some of it end up in the water? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=svKPwPWLq9w

They should do that with a hookah and see how much tar they get... how would they measure that though...? hmmm [quote name='Ring Master Arain' timestamp='1282279509' post='479638'] is there link to where u found this ridiculous segment. it's probably somewhere on utube I can check once I get to the crib. Plex
I am skeptical about any of these 'studies' because its unlikely those involved are experts at handling a hookah. Setup/heat management/maintainence, etc will determine whether there is vapor or smoke coming from the hookah. If those running the test are either hookah noobs or have the intention of generating 'evidence' to support their case to ban hookahs, they could so easily mishandle a hookah during their tests and produce highly toxic results. I'm really curious how they tested it.. If they had a machine to just keep drawing on it automatically, they could very well be burning the molasses.. which would produce highly toxic results... Its hard to believe the tests that claim hookahs are horrid for your health involve a properly prepared hookah that is smoking really smoothly. I highly doubt they have a test rig capable of refusing to smoke a harsh hookah... I would bet a title of 'smoking harsh hookahs are worse than cigarettes' would be a very suitable title for all these 'hookahs are much worse than cigarettes' claims. king_lunchb0x
bias to say the least.. like everyone else said smoking is bad what ever it is but if there is that much nicotine you would pass out after 2 pulls cause the smoke is so much more and stronger then a cigarette. Ive never seen any list tar in them except maybe one brand had .05%tar for 250g if i can remember, maybe i even just read it wrong

ih303
Oh man... this stuff is rich. It's the blind leading the blind. Certainly some of you have access to lab equipment such as what was seen in that video. Why do people always say we should do our own study when threads like this come up, but then no one ever does? I'm ready to have some "facts" of my own in my quiver for these "health crusaders". Riddle me this... All these folks speaking out and spreading all this unfounded propaganda about hookah use - what/who is motivating them? What do they stand to gain from it all? Answer that and this might start to make a lot more sense. My bet is that there's more to it then the warm, fuzzy they get from helping others live healthier lifestyles. IainUM
the horrible part about biased researchers is that if you run an experiment in their kind of fashion they will get the results they want because they can warp the test to suite their needs. its as if they already had the answer they just were looking for a way to prove it
porksandwich9113
We all know smoking is bad. Welcome to 1980's. I don't think I saw one post saying hookah has no negative effects. Many of us just don't believe it's nearly as bad as cigarettes. And we have yet to see a reputable study where the research methods were well documented. And trust me when I tell you 99% of us are not physically addicted to hookah AT ALL. And also. It's comparing one like 25-30gram bowl to ONE cigarette. ONE. My friend smokes anywhere from 20 to 30 cigs A DAY. I average maybe 5-7 bowls a week at the peak of my smoking. I think I've done 1 this week so far.
