Louis
Hello, I'm Louis, just started smoking a hookah a few weeks ago and stumbled across this website. I recently purchased a Widow Hookah from HookahHookah.com with a bunch of pretty tasty ma'assel samples. I have a quick question. I've been using Three Kings Charcoals and they tend to only last about 30 minutes each, is this normal? Do most people have other coals lit and set aside or do you interrupt your smoking and fire up additional coals? Can you store hot coals in the ash tray or would this damage the tray? Thanks for the site, its been a great resource so far, I look forward to using it more frequently. Louis
c4r80n
seems about normal.yeah i always end up sparking up another when my first (or two) gets half way done.you can keep em in the tray while they gray over in ash, jsut don't touch it. I use a tuna can.

ghostofdavid
I'm also curious about the Widow, how about a review?
gunsboy
I have a little metal Coal holder, it is just a metal bucket with a nice long handle to carry it without burning ur hands. I light 2-3 pieces and leave them there and then add more as I keep smoking to make sure that the coal is all red and ready the second the one on the bowl is done. This way you use alot of coals but I smoke to relax and not to think about the next coal and I get no breaks in my smokin session.
hookah~rob~
three kings has been all that i have ever used as far as quick lights go, mine would last around the same time, i just cut out the top of an old soda bottle and put them in there. or you could try a terracotta plate with stones in it to sit the coals on for a more permanent fixture. then again i have my living room set up as a smoke room. Louis
Thanks for the comments and advice, I will post my observations of the Widow. Thank you!
Sonthert
I use Japanese tablets which are best if lit as needed...although they take 5 minutes to light, so you have to time your new ones a little. Gunpowder disks light very quickly, so, timing is less essential. bulk coals and reprocessed coals need more time to light, so its a good idea to light them ahead of time.
