joanna Posted August 25, 2010 Share Posted August 25, 2010 I just purchased a small Tangiers Phunnel bowl online, and I'm expecting it to arrive in 3 days. I decided it would be great for parties, since I hear it helps the tobacco last longer. I don't plan on using it when there are just 2 people smoking, since it holds a lot more tobacco than the vortex bowl I have now. Is this a good idea? I'm also wondering about getting the glass mod. They can be had at Dollar General for even cheaper I hear. Either way, it's the perfect solution for a small Tangiers phunnel if you know you're not going to be smoking long. Is it necessary? No. But it sure is convenient. I need to break out my small and use the tealight mod... Haven't done it in quite a while, ever since I got my Mini Phunnel from Jay (Arcane). It basically takes up like half the room in the bowl to save shisha, it would be a good idea to get one maybe since you could use the funnel without mod for parties and then with when you don't have as many people and want to save shisha. [/quote] You said it's great if I'm not going to be smoking long. Are you saying this will reduce the amount of time the tobacco will last? I got the phunnel so that the tobacco would last longer when I have friends over, so I don't want anything that will reduce the smoking time. The tealight mod was invented because a small tangiers phunnel still held a lot of tobacco...to the point where a smoker cannot sit for hours to smoke all the shisha in a phunnel bowl. Hence why the Alien phunnel was created, to give smokers a phunnel bowl that carried so little tobacco and still enjoy the concept of a phunnel. When I pack my small tangiers phunnel, I smoke it for 1hr at least. I either get bored of the flavor or coals die out and I end up being lazy. Will the bowl smoke the same if I just don't pack it as full? 2.) So you're saying that the mod really doesn't enhance the flavor or the smoking session at all? I've been smoking hookah for over a year now, but I'm just now starting to really invest in it, and I want to make sure my money isn't wasted. Chreees Posted August 25, 2010 Share Posted August 25, 2010 Never underpack it. It won't smoke good at all. Okay, so the tealight mod doesn't hurt the smoke or flavor at all. In fact, I believe it actually ENHANCES the flavor, because you're deliberately pushing the air through the tobacco to get to the inner phunnel hole to go down the stem, etc. So with the air having to go through the tobacco, it picks up more of the flavor, make sense? Having the tealight mod in there won't hurt the flavor for sure, and you'll still get nice big clouds. The only thing is the tealight mod won't give you as long of a session, because you're using less tobacco... no brainer. So... What I would do is ask yourself: How long am I going to smoke? One round of coals? Or three? If you know you're only going to be smoking a short period of time, like one, maybe two rounds of coals, then use the tealight mod. If you know you're going to be smoking atleast two, three, maybe even four rounds of coals, then don't use the tealight mod. Easy as a fat kid eating pie. I used to use the tealight mod all the time, but then I acquired a Tangiers mini phunnel. I still waste shisha everytime, but starting tomorrow I'm trying something new... I'll use either the mini phunnel, and whatever's unburnt in the bottom I'll throw back in the tub, or I'll use my small phunnel with the tealight mod and after I'm done smoking I'll throw it all away (I couldn't imagine saving sheesh using the tealight mod, because you're forcing air through the BOTTOM of the tobacco, compared to when it's just normal in the phunnel, the air is only touching the top layer of tobacco, if that makes any sense). The best way is just play around with it and see what works for you. I actually plan on making a video how-to of how to make and use the tealight mod, probably this Friday, so be looking for it coming soon (I'll film it Friday, edit it probably Friday night at work). [/quote] trade you alien phunnel is still a good creation. you dont have to worry about going through tea light holders and cutting them up. if reusing, it gets annoying cleaning it with soap and a brush to get the burnt stains off. Comes out clean, looking brand new. Granted I do clean up all my stuff RIGHT after I'm done smoking, so there's no time for the Tangiers to stick to it or anything during the cool down time.
