Got A Turkish Elmas Hookah!

Recommended Posts

To start this off, its a craigslist find, and in my opinion a damn good one. I generally cant find anything but smoke shop Chinese hookahs on there for $150+, so I was stoked to see this on there. Plus, it was being sold for less than half of what it would have been to have one shipped to me from Europe. So, win.

I believe its about 28" tall. Thats what the ad said at least. Solid brass, and HEAVY. Like I said before, the vase alone feels like it weights as much as either of my nour stems WITH vases attached. I'll confirm this later. The stem itself a super heavy too.

With the windcover on.

The bowls are deeper than I expected. I have never had a legitimate turkish pipe, or males bowls, so I am not sure how they compare to others yet. I ordered that adapter piece so I can use female Tangiers Phunnels with it, but I was told that Crown Hookah is making male phunnels now. That might be something worth checking out.

Super thick glass. The designs are etched into the glass, so its not just some shitty painted on lines that will wear away in a couple days.

90"+ long. The handle makes up about 30" of that. The ends are alightly narrow, so its a bit restrictive. But its about the same as your average Nour or other Syrian.

Overall, very happy with my purchase. The chick I bought it from got it from Turkey, and she said the guy she bought it from assembled it in front of her (picking pieces and making the grommets). Came with tongs, a cleaning brush, mouthtips and 500g of tobacco. One was 250g of Nakhla DA, and the other was some weird Egyptian brand of Mint. Its even got the duty stamps/stickers on it from when she brought it out of the country haha. I'll get a pic of the box later. It smells different than any other mint I have had, so it should be interesting.

Also, check out the mod I made with one of the toppers from a Nour

Oh, as for your Turkish bowl, yes, they are deep, and therefore they require some extra heat to finish out the stuff in the bottom..Definitely use the windcover

Nice score I have that same model, different base, the windcover is not a elmas one but pretty much the same function and solid brass just as well...the turk bowl's are unriveled for nakhla smoking,,,3 large coco's and go too town on some nakhla....And yep the stem on this model is about 6 pounds

Welcome to the turkish nargile fan club...turkish brass FTW

I got it on the scale last night. For just the stem and vase, it was 9.5 lbs.
:shok:

Yeah Josh, none of the the authentic Turkish pipes have purge valves as far as I know. Its not a bid deal though. Just have to watch the heat a little closer sometimes.

yeah they are heavy ...I have a 32.5" inch one coming in the next few days....Sevgi told me its a good kilo or more heavier then this model..I'll be sure to share some pics when it comes in...I think this taller model has a wider gauge as well...not that it needs one the pull is excellent as the hose port is narly big

I like that mod you did gonna have to try that some time
